Abstract: The present invention discloses a disposable meltblown scrubbing product for use in household cleaning or personal care applications and an abrasive aggregate fiber which may be utilized in the scrubbing product. The meltblown web is formed primarily of polymeric fibers in a disordered or random distribution as is typical of fibers deposited in meltblown processes so as to form an open, porous structure. The aggregate fibers of the present invention generally are formed of two or more separate abrasive polymer fibers or strands which are adhered together along at least about 5 mm of the fiber length. The abrasive fibers of the meltblown web are generally greater than about 15 microns in diameter.

Abstract: A sponge-like pad used for cleaning and other wiping and polishing applications is disclosed. The sponge-like pad is made from a plurality of textured paper webs attached together at selected locations. The paper web can be, for instance, a highly textured throughdried paper web containing high-yield fibers and a wet strength agent. In one embodiment, the stacked plies can be contained within a cover material that is liquid pervious. The sponge-like product of the present invention can be used alone or it can be incorporated into a cleaning tool, such as a mop.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for applying a liquid coating onto an object. The apparatus includes a device that has a handle and a transfer medium which is attached to the handle. The apparatus further includes a cover that is attached to the device. The cover includes a closure element that is operable to open and close an end of the cover. When the end of the cover is open, the cover is movable between a first position where the cover protects the transfer medium and a second position where the cover protects the handle. In another example embodiment, the cover is formed of a removable first layer that is positioned adjacent to the transfer medium when the cover is in the first position and a removable second layer that is positioned adjacent to the handle when the cover is in the second position.

Abstract: A cleaning composite comprising a foam layer, such as melamine foam, and an element adapted to engage a user's hand, is disclosed. The hand-engaging element may be adjustable. A second layer, attached to at least a portion of the foam layer, may also be present. When a second layer is present, the hand-engaging element, in some embodiments, may be positioned in facing relation to a surface of the second layer or a surface of the foam layer.

Abstract: Nonwoven webs having reduced levels of lint and slough are disclosed. In accordance with the present invention, the nonwoven webs are treated on at least one surface with a small amount of a polymeric component. The polymeric component may be present, for instance, in the form of meltblown fibers. The meltblown fibers are made from a polymer that is compatible with the nonwoven web. By adding relatively small amounts of meltblown fibers to at least one side of the nonwoven material, lint and slough levels have been found to be significantly reduced. The nonwoven web may be any web containing pulp fibers, such as a tissue web or a coform web.
