    Abstract: A coke oven door having a refractory plug with vertical gas channels on each side, each channel having a plurality of tributary vents originating at the face of the plug normally exposed to a relatively high pressure area and leading upwardly to the vertical gas channels at about a 30.degree. angle to permit reduction of the gas pressure through the channels, behind the door seal.
