  • Patent number: 4910237
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing rubber mixtures in two stages, namely a master-batching stage and a final mixing stage, with the maximum temperature during final mixing being less than the maximum temperature during master batching. In order to reduce the overall mixing time, and in order to simplify the mixing apparatus, the material that is to be mixed is passed successively through a master batcher and then a final mixer. The material that is to be mixed is transferred or conveyed from the master batcher to the final mixer via the force of gravity without intermediate storage thereof. After the master batching, the material that is to be mixed is cooled in the final mixer. During cooling and final mixing of a first charge in the final mixer, master batching of a subsequent charge is already effected in the master batcher. The master batcher and the final mixer are expediently combined in such a way that the master batcher is a ram kneader, and the final mixer is a ram-less kneader.

  • Patent number: 4876297
Abstract: A method of producing a mixture that contains rubber or rubber-like material, and carbon black. The method includes the steps of adding to the rubber or rubber-like material a portion only of the intended total quantity of carbon black, thereupon preheating the above in a high-frequency alternating field, and subsequently adding in the remainder of the intended total quantity of carbon black. Expediently, approximately up to a maximum of one-third of the intended total quantity of carbon black is added to the rubber prior to the preheating step.

  • Patent number: 4244415
Abstract: A pneumatic vehicle tire with at least two tread strips separated from each other by circumferential grooves and including belt-like reinforcements between the tread strips and the radial carcass while each tread strip has associated therewith a belt the width of which substantially corresponds to the width of the tread strips. Within the region of the belts, at least between these belts, there are provided thread-shaped strength carriers which together with the circumferential direction of the tire define an angle within the range of from 0.degree. to 10.degree..

  • Patent number: 4234029
Abstract: A pneumatic vehicle tire having a single layer radial carcass of steel or a material of similarly high strength. The carcass is anchored by being looped around the bead cores in the beads. The laterally outwardly lying free ends of the carcass layer may extend up to about half the height of the tire side walls. Laterally outwardly, next to the looped around carcass end, between the rim flange and this carcass end, there is provided a bead reinforcer which includes pull-resistant threads or the like which are parallel to one another. The bead reinforcer is slanted with regard to the carcass, preferably extending at an angle of about 15.degree. to 45.degree. to the circumferential direction of the tire. The radially outwardly lying free end of the bead reinforcer has associated therewith a strip which extends parallel to said free end and includes pull-resistant threads or the like which are arranged in a cord layer.

  • Patent number: 4203480
Abstract: A slightly bulged outwardly arched pneumatic vehicle tire having a tread which is narrow in relation to the width of the tire. The tire also has a belt which is pull-resistant in the circumferential direction of the tire and effects the lateral stabilization of the tire. Portions of the belt are arranged on both sides of and adjacent to the tread in sections of the tire sidewalls which are essentially cylindrical or slightly conical. In addition, the reinforcing inserts form the belt. Those reinforcing inserts located in the tire sidewalls form a considerably smaller angle with the circumferential direction of the tire than do those reinforcing inserts located below the tread.

  • Patent number: 4142567
Abstract: Pneumatic vehicle tires having a carcass with a tread strip centrally arranged thereon. The carcass freely spans the wheel rim and is only slightly outwardly curved when in a non-depressed condition. At its rim area the carcass is deflected by means of its arc of curvature towards the tire beads which are reinforced with pull-resistant cores. The carcass has a thickness which continuously decreases from its maximum thickness in the region of the tire bead to a fraction thereof at the edges of the tread strip. The carcass is provided with two fabric plies which are looped around the cores. Decreasing in distance between each other, the two plies extend beneath the tread strips. In the arc of curvature the two plies surround an elastic, deformable, incompressible intermediate layer which has an approximately wedge-shaped cross section.

  • Patent number: 4034790
Abstract: A vehicle wheel having a pneumatic tire which is only slightly outwardly arched or crowned and which has a carcass and a centrally located tread strip. The tread strip has sharply defined edges and has a length approximately one third the width of the freely extended axial length of the tire body. The tire body is deflected sectionwise inwardly under a rated load in such a way that the carcass changes from a convex configuration to a concave one, in the process of which the carcass layers radially inwardly of the contact surface edges experience an angle variation of from 10.degree. to 30.degree..
