Patent number: 11973335Abstract: A solid state circuit breaker has both solid state electronics and a physical switch. The solid state circuit breaker facilitates power measuring for end loads connected to a panel board circuit, e.g. receptacles, lighting, etc., over current protection, and disconnection all within one device. The solid state circuit breaker can be used at 100% of its rated capacity as opposed to 80% code-mandated limitation for thermal magnetic circuit breakers. The solid state circuit breaker also can provide power/current data (real-time) without the need of an additional device. The solid state circuit breaker further facilitates electronic, i.e. remote, opening, closing, and current limiting for demand response or load shedding.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2020Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: RENU, INC.Inventors: Jumie Yuventi, Bahman Sharifipour, Liyang Zhang, Bruno Bambaren

Publication number: 20210232724Abstract: A method for defining a route for a connecting medium through a three-dimensional building, involving modeling the three-dimensional building as a two-dimensional array of panels, wherein any two panels in the array of panels are connected panels if a connecting medium can be directly routed from one panel to the other panel, a set of coordinates for each of one or more panels in the array of panels where a connecting medium can enter or exit the panel, and a union of the respective set of coordinates for each of the one or more connected panels in the array of panels where a connecting medium can be routed between the connected panels. The process selects one or more panels in the array through which to route the connecting medium based on the unions of the respective set of coordinates for each of the one or more connected panels in the array of panels.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2021Publication date: July 29, 2021Inventors: Patrick Tierney, Tyler Kent Sheldon, Sungmin Kim, Ward Vercruysse, Jumie Yuventi, Sarveswara Rao Basa

Patent number: 11032895Abstract: A wireless light switch harvests energy for ambient environment/space conditions and uses the harvested energy to energize low-power electronics. An exemplary application is for wireless control (ON/OFF or dimming) of light fixtures. The energy harvesting circuitry transduces ambient light to electricity and uses this energy to charge an energy storage device as well as power a wireless transmitter which can be triggered based on user interaction with an ON/OFF or Dim+/Dim? element. The wireless light switch with energy harvesting circuitry is paired with a wireless receiver circuit which can be connected to a light fixture that is to be controlled by the wireless light switch.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2019Date of Patent: June 8, 2021Assignee: Katerra Inc.Inventors: Bahman Sharifipour, Jumie Yuventi, Gary Fong

Patent number: 10897138Abstract: A switch has a first input to couple to an AC electrical power source, a second input to couple to a DC electrical power source, and an output to couple to an electrical power load. A control module transmits a signal to the electrical power load to determine whether the electrical power load uses AC electrical power or DC electrical power, and receives in response thereto an indication that the electrical power load uses one of AC electrical power and DC electrical power. The control module then transmits a signal to the switch to configure the switch to receive electrical power from one of the AC electrical power source and the DC electrical power source and transmit the received electrical power to the electrical power load, responsive to the received indication.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2018Date of Patent: January 19, 2021Assignee: Katerra, Inc.Inventors: Nicholas Brathwaite, Jumie Yuventi, Bahman Sharifipour, Mark Thomas

Patent number: 10432082Abstract: An electrical power input adapter coupled to a direct current (DC) bus in a power distribution system receives either an alternating current (AC) power signal or a DC power signal at a first voltage level to transmit to the DC bus. An electrical converter receives and converts the received signal to a DC power signal at a second fixed voltage. A second interface includes a current limiter to receive and limit an amperage of the DC power signal at the second voltage. A programmable switch coupled to the current limiter receives the DC power signal at the second voltage and at the limited amperage and transmits the DC power signal at the second voltage and at the limited amperage. A controller coupled to the programmable switch controls when, within a period of time, the programmable switch is to transmit the DC power signal at the second voltage and at the limited amperage.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2019Date of Patent: October 1, 2019Assignee: Katerra, Inc.Inventors: Bahman Sharifipour, Jumie Yuventi, Mark Thomas
