  • Patent number: 5046394
Abstract: The musical tone control apparatus generates a musical tone control signal in response to a motion at a certain part of a human body, preferably a bending motion at an articulation of a finger, wherein it includes a light emitting element, a photo-conductive member and a light receiving element. The light emitted from the light emitting element is transmitted through the photo-conductive member whose light transmission rate varies in response to the force applied thereon, so that the amount of the light transmitted through the photoconductive member is reduced. Such reduced amount of the transmitted light is received by the light receiving element. Based on the received light, the musical tone control signal is generated. Thus, by bending the photo-conductive member, the musical tone control signal can be varied. Preferably, the light emitting element is a photodiode, the photo-conductive member is an optical fiber, and the light receiving element is a phototransistor.

  • Patent number: 4915477
Abstract: A method of driving an electro-optical device having a plurality of scan lines, data lines and pixels in which data written into and stored within the plurality of pixels is erased from the pixels sequentially rather than at the same time. A plurality of pulses supplied on the scan and data lines during the erasing period produces an erasing period for each scan line which is substantially the same. The effective voltage value of signal waveforms during the erasing period is less than the absolute magnitude of a holding signal waveform which maintains the data in the pixels until the erasing period begins.

  • Patent number: 4716773
Abstract: A stress detector including an AC power source for generating an AC symmetrical wave form voltage, an exciting coil driven by the AC power source for alternatingly magnetizing at least a portion of a ferromagnetic material to be measured in a predetermined direction, a detecting coil for detecting a magnetic flux generated due to the alternating magnetization, and an adder circuit for taking out a part of a voltage applied to the exciting coil, setting an amplitude and a phase of a wave form of the taken-out part of the voltage to preset values, adding the voltage thus obtained to a voltage induced in the detecting coil. The detector gives an output signal representative of a value of stress applied to the material to be measured as a variation either in amplitude or phase depending on the preset phase.

  • Patent number: 4697460
Abstract: A torque sensor for electrically detecting torque, such as the torque of an automobile engine, wherein a strain disk is provided in the path of torque transmission and the torque is magnetically detected in terms of the magnetostriction generated in the strain disk. The torque sensor comprises a magnetic rotating disk and a magnetic sensor disposed in the vicinity of and opposed to the strain disk. The magnetic sensor comprises a detection coil and an excitation coil oriented perpendicularly to each other with the excitation coil ordinarily being disposed outside of the detection coil. Supplying alternating current to the excitation coil causes an alternating field to be produced within the strain disk and the configuration of this alternating magnetic field is varied by the anisotropy of the strain caused within the strain disk by the transmitted torque.

  • Patent number: 4694293
Abstract: A data transmission system comprises a transmitter and a plurality of serially connected receivers. The transmitter, when energized, outputs an initialization signal to all of the receivers and also outputs a data of a predetermined value to the first receiver. In response to the initialization signal, the first receiver stores the received data in a register and modifies the received data to output a modified data to the second receiver. The second to last receivers operate in the same manner, so that different data are stored in the respective registers of the receivers. To transmit a given data to a selected one of the receivers, the transmitter outputs the given data with an identification code equal to the data stored in the register of the selected receiver. Although each of the receivers compares the received identification code with the contents of the register, only the selected receiver outputs a coincidence signal and stores the received data into a data utilization circuit thereof.

  • Patent number: 4633749
Abstract: A musical tone signal generator for an electronic musical instrument is constructed by a waveshape generator, a function generator and an interpolator. The waveshape generator successively generates adjacent two waveshapes of a plurality of different waveshapes which have been intermittently sampled in an actual produced tone. The function generator generates an interpolation function which is a function of time. The interpolator weights the adjacent two waveshapes in accordance with the interpolation function, combines the weighted two waveshapes and outputs the combined waveshape as a musical tone waveshape to be produced at a rate corresponding to a frequency of the musical tone waveshape. In the waveshape generator, the generation of next two adjacent waveshapes are performed when a value of the interpolation function has become equal to a predetermined value. As a result, it is made possible to obtain a good quality timewise spectrum change of the musical tone waveshape.
