  • Patent number: 5589751
Abstract: A sensorless SRM suitable to drive the SRM based on the position of a rotor detected through the detection of the variation of the current of each phase without providing separate sensors for identifying the position of the rotor includes a motor driving part for driving the motor by exciting phases of the motor in a predetermined sequence, a differentiating part for differentiating the currents exciting the phases of the motor respectively, an amplifying part for amplifying output voltages from the differentiating part to proper levels, and a comparing part for comparing output voltages of the amplifying part with reference voltages respectively to generate a high level signal when the output voltage of the amplifying part is higher than the reference voltage and a low level signal when the output voltage of the amplifying part is lower than the reference voltage.

  • Patent number: 5373206
Abstract: A position detection apparatus for a switched reluctance motor wherein a single sensor is used for detecting a rotor position and thus driving the motor. A sensing unit is provided with a single sensor for detecting a position of a rotor, a start signal generation circuit, for generating a start signal for aligning the rotor with a stator upon starting, a position detection signal input circuit for passing the position detection signal following the start signal, a drive control pulse generation circuit, for receiving an output signal from the position detection signal input circuit as a clock signal, sequentially shifting driving signals for respective phases and generating drive control pulses for respective phases, and a phase excitation circuit for logically combining phase drive control pulses from the drive control pulse generator with the start signal from the start, signal generation circuit and exciting the phases sequentially.

  • Patent number: 5268627
Abstract: A start assisting device for a high speed reluctance motor, capable of starting the motor at a specific start disabling position where a static torque with a very small angle is present due to a phase advance. When the motor can not be started at a specific position, clock signals are supplied as gate drive signals, in place of drive signals based on a motor position detection. After starting the motor, the drive signals based on the position detection is supplied as gate drive signals, so as to drive normally the motor. Otherwise, when the motor can not be started, the drive signals based on the position detection is supplied as gate drive signals for different phases, so as to start the motor. After starting the motor, the drive signals based on the position detection are supplied as gate drive signals for corresponding phases, so as to drive normally the motor.
