Abstract: An optical device includes a transmitting module and a receiving module. The transmitting module includes a first shell, a light source module and a first lens group. The light source module and the first lens group are arranged in the first shell. The light source module generates a collimated light through the first lens group. The receiving module includes a second shell, a light sensing module and a second lens group. The light sensing module and the second lens group are arranged in the second shell adjacent to the first shell. The light sensing module receives a reflected collimated light through the second lens group. The light source module includes at least one light-emitting diode. The first and second lens groups both include at least one lens unit. The light source module and the light sensing module respectively are arranged at one end of the first and second shells.

  • Patent number: 7656563
Abstract: A method for controlling ON/OFF of LED in a scanner which replaces CCFL with LED as a light source is provided so as to solve the problem of excessively long warm-up time of CCFL in the prior art. Meanwhile, to achieve intermittent heat dissipation, LED is switched ON/OFF according to the frequency of the scanner receiving optical signals.

  • Patent number: 7339618
Abstract: A method for compensating image chromatism is provided. As each RGB channel has different wavelength and refractive index, image dispersion will always occur when capturing an image from a lens. If the image dispersion is excessive, it will produce image chromatism more easily. In order to solve that, we employ the disclosed method to improve the image dispersion of each RGB channel when capturing the image from the lens using a computer program. We can further achieve the goal of image chromatism compensation.

  • Patent number: 7079791
Abstract: An apparatus for reducing start-up time uses an auxiliary light source and method for the same are proposed. The auxiliary light source has relatively short start-up time to compensate a cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) with long start-up time. The auxiliary light source is a light emitting device and simultaneously turned on with the CCFL. The light-emitting device is turned off when the output light of the CCFL is stable. Therefore, the light-emitting device with the CCFL can provide stable light source for scanner.

  • Publication number: 20060082838
Abstract: A carriage used in image scanning devices includes an optical device installed on the beam path of an illuminating unit, producing a first projection beam and a second projection beam. A first projection unit and a second projection unit are used to transmit the two projection beams to a document to be scanned. An image capture unit is employed to receive the reflective beam from the document and generate image data. Since a single illuminating unit can provide two beams, the invention has the advantage of a simple structure and a low production cost.

  • Publication number: 20050274872
Abstract: A contact image sensor module has a light source, at least one reflective element and a photoelectric conversion element. The photoelectric conversion element is arranged between the light source and the reflective element, such that the light from the light source is directed toward the manuscript. The reflective element receives the light reflected from the manuscript, and then the light is reflected back to the manuscript. The photoelectric conversion element receives light directed from the light source and the reflective element toward the manuscript, and then the light is converted into an electric signal, thus eliminating the dark band problem of the manuscript.

  • Publication number: 20040109241
Abstract: The specification discloses a lens for scanners. At the same time of shortening the optical paths among devices in the scanning module of the scanner, the size of the lens increases within a limited range so that the scanner still has a compact dimension. The lens has a cylindrical shape. The rims of the two opposite end surfaces are comprised of two opposite lines and two opposite arcs. The centers of the arcs are located at correspondingly the same positions on the end surfaces. Therefore, the beam can enter one end surface and leave from the other.
