  • Patent number: 6772584
Abstract: A plasma system is provided for removing soot and nitrogen oxide (NOx) in the exhaust gas of diesel engines. The system is comprised of a diesel particulate filter for adopting a honeycomb type porous element and at least one pair of electrodes; a plasma reactor for generating a predetermined amount of plasma, mounted downward or upward the diesel particulate filter; a catalytic reactor filled with a catalyst selected from 1B metal group, mounted downward the plasma reactor or the diesel particulate filter; and a means for supplying hydrocarbon to the exhaust gas, connected to a proper position upward the plasma reactor. Therefore, the soot and NOx in the exhaust gas, which are not only harmful to humans, but also which pollute the environment could be effectively removed under a normal pressure.

  • Publication number: 20030133866
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for the combustion synthesis of carbon nanotubes characterized with the combustor having an oxidizing agent inlet, a fuel inlet and an inert gas inlet, such that the inverse diffusion flame occurs within the combustor, thereby producing carbon nanotubes without using vacuum, and a method for the combustion synthesis of carbon nanotubes using the same. According to the present invention, it is possible to directly collect samples including carbon nanotubes without oxidation and a substrate may be installed with ease. Moreover, the manufacturing cost can be lowered to a level suitable for mass production so that the carbon nanotube technology can be extended to various applications.

  • Publication number: 20030072106
Abstract: A disc cartridge having a case to accommodate a disc, a shutter to open or close an opening formed in the case to enable a recording and/or reproducing job with respect to the disc, a discharge path provided at one side of the case to allow the flow of air formed therein during rotation of the disc, and an opening/closing mechanism to open/close the discharge path. Thus, since the discharge path through which the flow of air produced inside the cartridge during rotation of a disc is smoothly discharged to the outside is provided, contamination of the disc by foreign material such as dust can be considerably reduced.
