Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a sensor network, Machine Type Communication (MTC), Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication, and technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the above technologies, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. An apparatus and method for measuring a distance between wireless devices using a first signal transmitted/received between the wireless devices in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes: receiving the first signal for distance measurement transmitted from a first of the wireless devices; receiving a signal reflected by a reflector after being transmitted from the first of the wireless devices; and based on the received first signal and the received reflected signal, estimating a distance between the second of the wireless devices and the reflector.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that implement asymmetrical write fault thresholds. A data storage device may apply a different write fault threshold to each side of a target track, allowing a write head to deviate from a track center more in one direction than in the other direction. In some embodiments, the asymmetrical write fault thresholds may be applied to shingled tracks, allowing a lower write fault threshold to be applied in the direction of previously written shingled tracks, and a higher write fault threshold to be applied in the direction of tracks which are not yet written.

Abstract: One or more embodiments provide a method and an apparatus for operating an interchangeable-lens camera system suitable for shooting of a high quality photo or moving picture. The camera system includes a main body and a lens unit mountable on and detachable from the main body and wirelessly accessible to the main body. The lens unit estimates position information between the lens unit and the main body using beam information of the lens unit formed via beamforming and beam information of the main body. The lens unit applies the estimated position information to shooting.

Abstract: An apparatus for providing available codec information, includes a receiving unit that receives electronic program guide (EPG) data transmitted by a broadcasting operator; a codec-management unit that checks the position information of the codec based on the received EPG data, and manages the point of downloading time of the codec; an interface-generation unit that generates the position information of the checked codec, and provides the information to the EPG screen; and a display unit that displays the EPG screen including the position information of the codec.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus are disclosed for moving an execution point of a multimedia file through an expansive search of a multimedia file being executed by the multimedia executing apparatus. When the multimedia executing apparatus enters into an expansive search mode during a display of a progress bar having an execution point for execution of a multimedia file on a screen according to the execution of the multimedia file, an enlarged progress bar representing an enlarged section of the progress bar including the execution point is displayed on the screen.

Abstract: A mobile terminal and a method for searching for a home network for the mobile terminal are provided. The method includes performing a full scan for searching for the home network at a certain time after roaming to a visited network, initializing a count of a number of times a timer has expired when the home network is not found, initiating the timer, updating the count when the timer expires, scanning frequencies in a frequency list when the count is less than a certain value, and scanning all frequencies around the mobile terminal when the count is equal to the certain value.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for upgrading to a new codec used in a digital broadcasting environment are provided. The apparatus includes a first transceiver that receives a transport stream; a first parser that parses the transport stream to determine a codec packet, and decodes codec information contained therein; and a codec-comparison unit that compares the decoded codec information with existing codec information, and determines whether a codec should be downloaded. The system includes a device manufacturer that manufactures a codec packet; a broadcaster that transmits a transport stream containing the codec packet; and a rendering device that parses the transport stream, compares existing codec information with new codec information, and upgrades a codec based on the comparison. The method includes receiving a transport stream; parsing the stream; decoding new codec information; comparing the new codec information with existing information; and upgrading the codec based on the new codec information.

Abstract: A mobile device positioning system and a method of operating the same are provided that can reduce the power consumption of the mobile device. The position-information transmitting apparatus of the mobile device includes a data-receiving module receiving positioning data from a mobile device, a moving-speed calculation module calculating a moving speed of the mobile device according to the received data, and generating transmission time interval information to transmit the data for positioning according to the calculated moving speed, a data-transmitting module transmitting the generated transmission time interval information and the position information of the mobile device to the mobile device, and a load-adjustment module determining a load according to the mobile device having requested the position information, and adjusting the generated transmission time interval information according to the determined load.

The elevation of the read/write head is then controlled based on data representing the values of the flying height as measured at the first and second temperatures and as estimated for the temperature. In particular, the amount of electric power supplied to an FOD heater of the head is controlled based on the data generated during the burn-in process.

The second band portion contains at least one projection to enhance the detection of the pulse pressure of the user.
