Publication number: 20190068280Abstract: A coded light transmission and reception circuit and transmission and reception method use signals to indicate the start and end of a coded light transmission window. Data is modulated onto the current waveform during the transmission window. Each data peak value during said transmission window exceeds an average current in the transmission window (which is used as the decision level) and each valley value during said transmission window is below the average current. In this way, a coded light output can be generated in which the overall decision current varies significantly, but the coded light signal can still be decoded reliably. The average level can be calculated in the receiver and used for demodulating.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 25, 2017Publication date: February 28, 2019Inventors: JUNHU LIU, LIANG SHI, JIE FU

Patent number: 10154553Abstract: An LED driver uses a switch mode power supply either to provide a regulated LED current (in a first mode) that connects directly to the LED arrangement or a regulated LED voltage (in a second mode) to an LED output terminal. An auxiliary power supply is either based on an auxiliary secondary side (i.e. an auxiliary secondary side winding) when in the first mode, or it is based on the regulated LED voltage when in the second mode. The LED driver further comprises an input adapted to receive a standby command for the driver, wherein the main controlling unit is adapted to control the driver in the second mode when receiving the standby command for the driver. In this way, the driver has a single shared stage which can operated in a regulated current (i.e. constant current) mode to drive the LED arrangement directly or a regulated voltage (i.e. constant voltage) mode. It can adaptively change between modes to improve the standby power efficiency. When the load is turned on (e.g.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2016Date of Patent: December 11, 2018Assignee: PHILIPS LIGHTING HOLDING B.V.Inventors: Junhu Liu, Xianhui Zhang, Chun Yang

Publication number: 20170231044Abstract: A driver is able to drive an analog interface module or a digital interface module, for example an LED module. A set of output pins is for connection to the module, with the same set of output pins used for an analog interface LED module as for a digital interface LED module. A detecting circuit detects whether the module is an analog module or a digital module, based on a signal at a control pin. The configuration of the driver is then set accordingly using an analog drive signal or using a digital communication interface for the LED module parameter collection.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 10, 2015Publication date: August 10, 2017Inventors: Junhu LIU, Xiao SUN, Shan WANG, Xinghua HU

Patent number: 9648689Abstract: The invention relates to a drive unit for a lighting element and an operating method for such drive unit and to a lighting element including such drive unit. By selectively providing power to a control unit of the drive unit using different voltages at different stages of the overall drive unit, there is an additional degree of freedom which may be used for improving power efficiency, in particular for reducing standby power consumption, while still meeting specific space and cost constraints.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 2014Date of Patent: May 9, 2017Assignee: PHILIPS LIGHTING HOLDING B.V.Inventors: Junhu Liu, Harald Josef Gunther Radermacher, Jie Fu, Xiao Sun
