Patent number: 6256750Abstract: The invention for printing by a printer in accordance with a requesting order of jobs from clients when an error occurs in a server or the server is shut-down. It is possible to reconstruct a print system in which each client computer spools print data, only job information is transmitted to the server, and the server performs an order control, wherein when an abnormality occurs in the server, the client computer set as a reserve server functions in place of the server and each client computer confirms whether the job registered by itself has correctly been registered or not, thereby enabling a printing process to be normally performed.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1997Date of Patent: July 3, 2001Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Junichi Takeda

Patent number: 6115132Abstract: A client transmits only job information of print data to a server, the server manages a print order in accordance with the job information, and if printable, the client transmits the print data directly to a printer. After the print is completed, the printer notifies the server of a print completion, and upon reception of this print completion notice, the server instructs the client to delete the print data. In a print system on a network configured as above, the network traffic is not increased, a large memory capacity is not necessary for the server so that the server load is reduced, the job management of the server can be performed by the client, the completion of a print operation can be monitored, and a print operation is possible even if the server is in an error state.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 1997Date of Patent: September 5, 2000Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Takuji Nakatsuma, Takashi Yagita, Junichi Takeda, Koichiro Wanda, Mitsuo Kimura, Takuya Kakehashi

Patent number: 5574709Abstract: An AGC system controls the amplitude of a reproduction signal read out from a recording medium at a predetermined level by adjusting the gain of an AGC amplifier. The AGC system includes a differentiator which differentiates the output signal of the AGC amplifier and then outputs a resultant differential signal. A rectifier rectifies the output differential signal. An operation unit compares the output signal of the rectifier with a predetermined reference value and outputs an error signal corresponding to the difference between them. The gain of the AGC amplifier is adjusted according to the error signal so that the output signal of the AGC amplifier and the output signal of the differentiator may be controlled at respective predetermined levels.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 1994Date of Patent: November 12, 1996Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Junichi Takeda

The auto gain controller has a variable gain amplifier for amplifying the reproduction signal, a converter for converting the output of the variable gain amplifier into a DC voltage, and a comparator for comparing the output from the converter with a predetermined reference value and sending the result of the comparison to the variable gain amplifier. The controller also includes a fixing device for fixing the gain of the variable gain amplifier, and a focusing offset for applying an adjuster offset to a focusing servo loop when the gain is fixed by the fixing device, and introducing the output of the converter thereinto while varying the amount of the applied offset, thereby effecting the adjustment of the focusing offset.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1994Date of Patent: September 24, 1996Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Junichi Takeda

Patent number: 4956833Abstract: An optical disk apparatus comprises an optical pickup having an optical pickup body carrying a laser and a photodetector responsive to light emitted from the laser and reflected by the optical disk for producing tracking error signals mounted on the optical pickup body for reciprocal movement in a tracking direction responsive to operation of an actuator, and supports an objective for focusing the beam on the disk. A position sensor produces position signals in response to displacement of the movable portion in the tracking direction. Finally a servo tracking circuit outputs driving signals to the actuator on the basis of tracking error signals produced either in response to tracking error signals produced from outputs of the photodetector and position signals produced from output signals of the position sensor, in response only to the latter.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1989Date of Patent: September 11, 1990Assignee: Asahi Kogaku Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hiroshi Kokado, Suguru Takishima, Koichiro Nishikawa, Junichi Takeda, Masahiko Sasaki, Isao Okuda, Hiroshi Yamamoto, Masami Ninomiya, Akihiro Tanaka, Hiroshi Motohashi, Makoto Iwaki, Wataru Kubo
