  • Patent number: 6476820
Abstract: A signal Y outputted from a Y/C separating circuit is supplied to first and second matrices. Signals R-Y and B-Y are supplied to the first matrix through a gain control amplifier (GCA) and are also supplied to the second matrix. The signals Y, R-Y, and B-Y are converted into three primary color signals R, G, and B by the second matrix. From the signals R, G, and B, a skin color component is detected by a skin color detecting circuit and Eskin is outputted. On the basis of Eskin, color components other than the skin color are detected by a color component detecting circuit and Eother is outputted. Eother−Eskin is supplied as a control voltage to the GCA. Gains for the signals R-Y and B-Y are controlled. When the video signal indicates the skin color component, the control voltage is set to 0 and the gain is set to 1. When the video signal indicates a color component other than the skin color component, Eother is generated, the control voltage rises, and the gain is increased.

  • Patent number: 6466255
Abstract: In a foreground/background discriminating circuit based on focusing, a leading edge of a boundary portion is detected from a video signal and a parallax control signal is outputted on the basis of the detected leading edge. Similarly, in foreground/background discriminating circuits based on color differences and based on a luminance, a chroma component and a luminance component of the video signal are detected and parallax control signals are generated on the basis of the detected chroma and luminance components, respectively. In a multiplier, the parallax control signals generated from the foreground/background discriminating circuits are multiplied. In a parallax limiting circuit, a delay amount control signal for a left video signal and a delay amount control signal for a right video signal are formed in a manner such that a binocular parallax amount lies within a predetermined value and within a range of an amount such that the existence of the parallax is recognized clearly.

  • Patent number: 6259426
Abstract: A stereoscopic feeling can be easily emphasized by properly applying seven items of: a front/rear feeling and depth feeling circuit 14 constructed by a front/rear feeling to shift a position of an image in the horizontal direction on the basis of edge information of a video signal and add to a binocular parallax and a depth feeling to set a center fusion image plane to a position behind a display surface; a glossy feeling and contrast emphasizing circuit 15 for detecting a glossy portion of the video signal and emphasizing a contrast of a single eye and both eyes in the glossy portion; a V aperture control and coring sharpness circuit 16 constructed by a vertical aperture control to raise frequencies of a middle low band or higher at a change point in the vertical direction and a coring sharpness to give a sharpness to only an edge having a large amplitude and high frequency components; and a color emphasizing circuit 17 for emphasizing color contrasts of colors other than a skin color.

  • Patent number: 6201566
Abstract: When a 2-dimensional video image is displayed, a front/rear feeling and a stereoscopic feeling are enabled to be expressed. A detection signal Sd is formed by a high pass filter 25 and a rectifying circuit 26 in accordance with an amount of edge information. The detection signal Sd is supplied to a variable delay circuit 14L. A detection signal Sd′ is supplied to a variable delay circuit 14R. The variable delay circuits 14L and 14R are controlled in accordance with the edge information amount so that a video image for the left eye and a video image for the right eye are moved in the opposite directions. Thus, an imaginary image is synthesized to the front or rear side from a display plane. The left and right video images are displayed on CRTs 20L and 20R. The projection light passes through a horizontal polarizing filter 21L and a vertical polarizing filter 21R and the left and right video images are overlapped on a screen 22.
