    Abstract: A polyvinyl alcohol film containing at least one of complexes of hydroxybenzophenone compounds having specific structure, and at least one basic compound selected from the group consisting of (i) a hydroxide, carbonate or bicarbonate of an alkali metal, (ii) carbonate or bicarbonate of ammonium, and (iii) an amine compound. The above film is excellent in the effect of blocking ultraviolet radiation in the wavelength range from 360 to 400 nm, and therefore can be used in the optical fields of polarizing sunglasses, the display fields of a liquid crystal display and fields of wrapping materials for clothes or foods as it is or as a laminate of it with other transparent film.
