  • Patent number: 11921239
Abstract: A method and a system of calibration of a first lidar device and a second lidar device are described. A subset of pairs of positions of a vehicle as the vehicle moves along a path according to a predetermined path pattern are determined. Each pair from the subset of pairs includes a first position and a second position of the vehicle. A first field of view of the first lidar device when the vehicle is located at the first position overlaps with a second field of view of the second lidar device when the vehicle is located at the second position at a second time. Based on the subset of pairs, an extrinsic calibration transformation that transforms a position of the second lidar device into a calibrated position that allows to obtain a consistent view of the world between the first and the second lidar devices is determined.

  • Patent number: 11199841
Abstract: Methods and systems for determining an optimal routing policy for an autonomous vehicle are described. A set of states that represent portions of lanes are determined. A set of costs for a set of actions is associated with each state. The set of actions includes a stay in lane action, a lane change action, and a forced lane change action. A lane change action has a non-deterministic outcome with a probability based on the length of the state. A cost for a stay in lane action is greater or equal than a length of the state and a cost of a forced lane change action is the reciprocal of a success rate of lane changes. An optimal routing policy is determined for the autonomous vehicle according to a shortest path first (SPF) algorithm run on the set of states based on the set of costs and the set of actions.

  • Patent number: 10906558
Abstract: A method and a system for managing interactions of an autonomous vehicle with one or more objects are described. In one embodiment, objects that are in the vicinity of the autonomous vehicle are detected based on sensor measurements. An interaction label is determined for each one of the objects. The interaction label is one of a yield label, a no-yield label, a stay-behind label, a stay in-front label, and an irrelevant label and describes an interaction of the autonomous vehicle with the object. A cost function is generated for the object based on the interaction label. A trajectory for an interval of time is determined for the autonomous vehicle based on the cost functions of one or more objects. The trajectory is then used to generate control commands for controlling the motion of the autonomous vehicle during the interval of time.

  • Patent number: 10802122
Abstract: A method and a system of calibration of a first lidar device and a second lidar device are described. Lidar returns recorded by the first and the second lidar devices as the vehicle moves along a path according to a predetermined path pattern in an environment are received. A subset of pairs of positions of the vehicle is determined. Each pair includes a first position and a second position. A first field of view of the first lidar device when the vehicle is located at the first position overlaps with a second field of view of the second lidar device when the vehicle is located at the second position. For each pair, an estimate of transformation is determined between a first subset of the lidar returns and a second subset of the lidar returns. An extrinsic calibration transformation is determined based on the estimates of the transformations.

  • Patent number: 10571916
Abstract: The present disclosure provides control systems and methods for an autonomous vehicle. In one example implementation, a control method includes obtaining data indicative of a motion plan for the autonomous vehicle. The method includes upsampling the data indicative of the motion plan to determine a desired vehicle state for the autonomous vehicle. The method includes obtaining data indicative of a current vehicle state for the autonomous vehicle. The method includes determining a control command for the autonomous vehicle based at least in part on the desired vehicle state and the current vehicle state. The method includes controlling the vehicle component based at least in part on the control command.
