  • Patent number: 6089010
Abstract: A structural part of a gas turbine plant is cooled by branching off a partial mass air stream, after being compressed by a compressor of the gas turbine plant, from a main mass air stream. The cooling partial mass air stream is ducted in a closed duct to the structural part to be cooled. At the same time, the partial mass air stream undergoes, independently of the main mass air stream, additional compression which is carried out by utilizing the rotational energy of a turbomachine shaft of the gas turbine plant. The novel gas turbine plant therefore is provided with a secondary compressor. The invention is suitable particularly for use in stationary gas turbine plants.

  • Patent number: 5896879
Abstract: A flow damper for cleaning stations, in particular for cleaning pipettor tips, is described, a cleaning liquid being introduced into the cleaning station through a pipettor needle and flowing around the pipettor tip before it is conducted away out of the cleaning station. In order to avoid wetting of the isolation surfaces of the pipettor needle and a level detector electrode, if provided, there are provided, according to the invention, in the cleaning station at least one screen having a preferably central entry orifice for the jet of liquid emerging from the pipettor needle and a device for diverting the liquid flow in the direction essentially opposite that of the entering jet of liquid. Furthermore, a plurality of exit orifices, preferably arranged radially around the entry orifice, for the diverted liquid flow are formed in the at least one screen.

  • Patent number: 5253390
Abstract: A hinge for an article of furniture has a mount which is attachable to a wall of the article. A hinge unit including a hinge arm and, optionally, a support for the arm is releasably connectible to the mount. To this end, the hinge unit is provided with a shaft which is receivable in a complementary recess of the mount. The hinge unit is further provided with a resilient tongue, and the tongue has a groove which cooperates with a projection on the mount to lock the hinge unit to the mount by snap action. A lever projects at an angle from both sides of the hinge unit, and the free end of each lever carries an arm which extends towards the tongue. An inclined protuberance is provided on either side of the tongue and each lever arm abuts a respective protuberance. The arrangement is such that, when the levers are urged towards one another, the lever arms cooperate with the protuberances to disengage the groove in the tongue from the projection on the mount.

  • Patent number: 5012551
Abstract: A furniture hinge has a hinge arm connectible to the body of a piece of furniture and a lever connectible to a closure for the furniture. The closure is movable between a closed position and an open position. A damping device is disposed between the hinge arm and the lever and includes a housing having a bellows-like first part and a second part secured to the hinge arm. A piston rides in the housing and divides it into first and second chambers. The piston is provided with flow channels which allow hydraulic fluid in the housing to flow between the first and second chambers. The piston is mounted on a rod which extends through, and is coupled to, the first housing part and is articulately connected to the lever. A sealing member likewise mounted on the rod is arranged to seal the flow channels upon movement of the closure to its closed position.

  • Patent number: 4847948
Abstract: A hinge for connecting two relatively movable components of a piece of furniture has a housing which is mounted on one of the components and a carrier which is mounted on the other component. A link bar pivotally connects the housing to a hinge arm which is secured to a quick-mounting plate via a fastening screw. The fastening screw passes through a slotted hole of the hinge arm so that the latter can be moved longitudinally relative to the quick-mounting plate when the fastening screw is loosened. An adjusting screw is threaded into the hinge arm and allows the inclination of the hinge arm relative to the quick-mounting plate to be adjusted. One end of the quick-mounting plate is provided with a pivotable arresting member for rapidly locking the quick-mounting plate to, and rapidly releasing it from, the carrier. The arresting member has a lip which engages a projection of the carrier in the locked condition. A cover is provided for the hinge arm and is designed to overlie the fastening and adjusting screws.

  • Patent number: 4332471
Abstract: A cuvette for holding a liquid to be examined optically has front, back, and side walls defining a rectangular cross section and a Y-shaped structure at the bottom thereof for holding the liquid. The Y-shaped structure extends between transparent front and back walls with an upper funnel mouth extending to the side walls, and a liquid holding portion formed of inner walls spaced between the side walls, and extending down to a rounded, tub-shaped bottom. The front walls are transparent and serve also to form the front and back of the liquid holding portion. The bottom preferably has a frustroconic surface to minimize the amount of liquid required for examination and to facilitate mixing of liquids added to the cuvette. The side walls extend below the tub-shaped bottom, and are joined to the front and back wall midway up the liquid holding portion by means of a rib, so that light is not scattered by the side walls and optical inhomogeneities are prevented.
