Abstract: A sausage-shaped product, in particular a sausage product, made of a protective casing and a viscous or granular filling material, in particular sausage meat, which is accommodated inside the protective casing. The protective casing being formed from a flat web material which is shaped into a tube closed at both ends and has longitudinal edges contacting or overlapping one another. It is further provided that at least one tear strip is affixed to the protective casing in the region of the contacting or overlapping longitudinal edges.

Abstract: A filling device and associated method for filling viscous filling material, in particular sealants, into a tubular casing material. The filling device comprises: a shutoff valve, a filling tube disposed downstream from the shutoff valve in the direction of flow of the filling material, a clip placement and clip closing device disposed downstream from the filling tube in the direction of flow of the filling material and a supply of tubular casing material disposed at least partially on the filling tube. At least one sensor is also provided for directly or indirectly measuring the length of casing material drawn from the supply of casing material, the output signal of the sensor being able to control at least the closing of the shutoff valve through which the pressurized filling material can be fed to the filling tube.

Abstract: An apparatus for producing film tube which can be filled with liquid, viscous or granular filling material, from a film strip, is provided wherein the apparatus comprises a filling tube which can be connected to a filling machine, a device for transforming the film strip into a film tube, a sealing device for sealing longitudinal edges of the film strip, an advance drive means for the film tube and a measuring device for determining the amount of film tube delivered by the sealing device. Abstract: A clip control system is described. The invention in a first embodiment is a clip control system comprising a stuffer/clipper comprising a reader and a processing unit and having an operating parameter, a clip package mountable to the stuffer/clipper and holding a plurality of clips, and information encoded in the clip package and readable by the reader, the processing unit configured to receive the information and to set the operating parameter based thereon. The clip package is a reel or a canister. In another embodiment, the invention comprises a clip package holding a plurality of clips and being mountable to a stuffer/clipper having a reader. The clip package has information encoded therein and readable by the reader. In either embodiment, the information is encoded in an RFID tag, a bar code, or a magnetic strip. The reader is a RFID reader, a bar code reader, or a magnetic strip reader. The information is product-specific information and can also include the identity of the clip manufacturer.
