  • Patent number: 5451870
Abstract: A sensor for measuring the difference between the velocity and/or position of a vibration-suppressing cylinder and that of a piston connected to a piston rod and moving back and forth inside the cylinder in a dashpot for motor vehicles. The sensor consists of a permanent magnet and of a winding in the form of a cylindrical coil and operating in conjunction with the magnet. The magnet is connected directly or indirectly to one of the mutually moving components and the winding is connected directly or indirectly to the other. The component that the magnet (5) rests against and the component that the winding (7) rests against constitute a complete circuit that carries the magnet's field.

  • Patent number: 5416300
Abstract: An automatic furnace comprises an actuator for an electric igniter. The electric igniter has a distinctly lower standard voltage, e.g., 120 V, than the network voltage, e.g., 230 V and is operated by the network voltage. The network voltage is fed into the power regulator before the igniter. The power regulator clocks the network voltage with an adjustable keying ratio, so that only part of the full wave trains of the network voltage becomes active at the electric igniter. In an advantageous embodiment, the keying ratio is variegated by the actual level of the network voltage.

  • Patent number: 5151241
Abstract: A method and device for shaping tubular workpieces from thermoplastic placs is disclosed. In the method, the workpiece to be shaped is inserted into a mold, heat is applied from the interior of the workpiece to heat the workpiece to the softening temperature of the plastic, this temperature is maintained until the workpiece assumes the shape of the mold, and the workpiece is left in the mold until it has cooled off. A flexible heating core is used to apply heat to the interior of the workpiece. The heating core has an insulating jacket with a sliding layer on its outer wall and a heating conductor winding located within the insulating jacket. A stress relief extends lengthwise in the middle of the heating core and outward of the heating core at one end. A receptacle is provided at the other end of the heating core for the stress relief.

  • Patent number: 4994174
Abstract: A process and system for low-temperature carbonization of oil shale, oil sands and similar oil-bearing solids includes low-temperature carbonization of oil-bearing solids in a high-pressure fluidized bed reactor in the presence of a substance selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and steam at temperatures substantially between 400.degree.and 600.degree. C. for producing low-temperature carbonization gas. The low-temperature carbonization gas is condensed in at least two stages for producing relatively higher boiling and relatively lower boiling oil fractions. The oil-bearing solids are peripherally mashed with the higher boiling oil fraction of the low-temperature carbonization gas, before introducing the oil-bearing solids into the high-pressure fluidized bed reactor. The oil-bearing solids mashed with the higher boiling oil fraction are returned to the high-pressure fluidized bed reactor.
