Patent number: 11242208Abstract: A shoe sorter is described. The shoe sorter can include a switch plate that supports movement of a shoe pin of a pusher shoe, a finger, and an actuation arm. In some examples, the finger can be configured to be moved in a first direction in response to a portion of the shoe pin contacting a portion of the finger. The actuation arm can be pivotably engaged to the finger so that a movement of the finger in the first direction can cause a movement of the actuation arm in a second direction. In this regard, the actuation arm in the second direction can cause a change in a signal outputted by the photoelectric sensor coupled to the shoe sorter. This change in the signal can be used by a processor to determine that the shoe pin is misaligned.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2021Date of Patent: February 8, 2022Assignee: INTELLIGRATED HEADQUARTERS, LLCInventors: William M. Saurber, III, Eric Roth, Jacob D. Wieneke, Justin J. Zimmer, John Williams Rugh

Publication number: 20220017303Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for a storage and retrieval systems, and more specifically to a three dimensional storage and retrieval system in which storage cells featuring multiple storage locations disposed around a central void are stacked in alignment with one another such that the central voids in each stack form a central shaft by which storage/retrieval vehicles can access every storage location from upper and lower track grids above and below the stacked array of storage locations.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2021Publication date: January 20, 2022Inventors: Justin J. Zimmer, William Munnerlyn, Philip Ammar

Patent number: 10479611Abstract: A material handling system includes a very high speed linear sortation conveyor that receives articles at an operating speed of 650 to 700 feet per second (fps) and up to 100 fps with gapping as small as one inch. In one or more embodiments, a recirculation sortation conveyor receives articles that are not diverted by the linear sortation conveyor with dynamic capacity sufficient to handle a high speed shutdown of the linear sortation conveyor. The recirculation sortation conveyor is itself a very high speed linear sortation conveyor having a pusher pre-sort feature that can distribute received articles at different lateral positions on an endless conveyor to align with more than one recirculation sortation conveyors that may be operating at a slower operating speed. In an exemplary embodiment, the recirculation sortation conveyor has a divert section for diverting articles to a divert target on a lateral side.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2018Date of Patent: November 19, 2019Assignee: INTELLIGRATED HEADQUARTERS, LLCInventors: Christopher G. Maines, Justin J. Zimmer, Jason Robert Meta, Ryan Artz, Brett Alan Hedges, Adam Stutz, Raymond R. Neiser

Patent number: 10265732Abstract: A sortation conveyor has an endless apron supported for longitudinal movement on an elongate frame that includes a pair of lateral side frames. An induction conveyor deposits articles on an offset lateral portion of a top conveying run of the apron. A pin guide assembly is coupled between the pair of lateral side frames and is upwardly presented to selectively receive the pin of pushers that laterally move across the apron. An upstream pre-sort section thereof positions articles from the offset lateral portion to an opposite lateral portion of the top conveying run. A downstream divert section of the pin guide assembly selectively diverts the articles to a divert target on the corresponding lateral side to the selected one of offset lateral position and the opposite lateral position.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2017Date of Patent: April 23, 2019Assignee: INTELLIGRATED HEADQUARTERS, LLCInventors: Justin J. Zimmer, Jacob D. Wieneke, Anthony J. Turco, William M. Saurber, III, Aaron K. Hunter, John Williams Rugh, Timothy A. Koeninger, Matthew Ryan Otto, Jarl Nicholas Sebastian

Patent number: 8757353Abstract: A sortation conveyor has a divert guide path which is configured to guide pushers to engage articles disposed on an endless conveying surface at an initial impact which does not result in an out of control situation even at high speeds. The divert guide path is disposed at a plurality of divert angles, and guides pushers to engage articles at a low initial contact divert angle and first lateral speed and to accelerate the articles to a final divert angle and second, higher, lateral speed. The pushers may be undergoing lateral acceleration at the time initial contact is made with the articles.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2013Date of Patent: June 24, 2014Assignee: Intelligrated Headquarters, LLCInventors: Raymond R.
