  • Patent number: 5823814
Abstract: A connector module and a connector module kit which includes the components of the connector module, is provided. The connector module includes a first housing, a second housing and a connector positive assurance member. Insertion of the second housing into the first housing will cause a latching mechanism located within the assembled first and second housings to latch the housings together so that they can not be readily disengaged. When the first and second housings and contacts therein are fully engaged in this manner, the connector positive assurance member may be moved from a first position to a second position to assure complete engagement has been effected. If the first and second housings and contacts therein are not fully engaged, the connector positive assurance member can not be moved from such first position to such second position.

  • Patent number: 5722849
Abstract: A connector is provided which includes first and second portions which are slidably engagable, and a lock disabler. The lock disabler includes a first enclosure-like segment pivotally attached to a second enclosure-like segment. When the first and second portions are fully engaged and the first segment has been attached to the second portion, the second segment may be pivoted relative to the first segment for attachment to the first portion to prevent disengagement of the first and second portions.

  • Patent number: 5551897
Abstract: An electrical contact is provided which includes an upper and lower bifurcated beam having contact areas which are staggered. The beams extend from a bridging portion from which outer enclosing members also extend. The outer enclosing members protect the beams from damage, and the sides of the beams are open to facilitate insertion of a blade terminal.

  • Patent number: 5370550
Abstract: A connector, for example an electrical connector, comprises first and second slidably engaging portions (12) (14) having a lock (16) distributed therebetween. The lock (16) comprises a locking tongue (18) having a fixed end (20) attached to the first portion, and a free end (22) extending therefrom. First and second spaced apart side walls (28, 30) are positioned adjacent the free end. A keeper (24) is formed on the second portion, and has a roof (31 ) and first and second spaced apart side walls (34, 36), and a depending lug (38) on the interior of the keeper roof. The free end (22) of the tongue (18) is formed to engage the lug (38) on the keeper roof. A lock disabler (26) having two operative positions with respect to the locking tongue is provided. A first position allows disengagement of the free end of the locking tongue from the keeper and a second position prevents disengagement of the free end of said locking tongue from the keeper.

  • Patent number: 5312264
Abstract: An article such, as an electrical connector, for mounting upon a substrate, such as a printed circuit board. The article includes a mounting plane having locating and centering means thereon. The locating and centering means comprises first and second spaced apart, depending lugs, each of which tapers from a first diameter proximal the mounting plane to a second diameter, narrower than the first diameter, distal said mounting plane. The first lug has a longitudinal slot extending its length in a given direction and the second lug has a longitudinal slot extending its length in a direction orthogonal to the given direction. The slots extending in different directions provide a centering and holding response which fixes the connector in position so that subsequent operations may be performed.

  • Patent number: 5201853
Abstract: A connector assembly includes first and second housing having a normally open switch fixed between them. Means are formed on one of the housing for maintaining the switch in an open position. In the event of separation of the housings, spring action causes the arms of the switch to engage electrical contacts, closing a circuit and energizing a warning light. The device has applicability in automatic braking systems for automotive vehicles.

  • Patent number: 5032085
Abstract: An electrical connector with three rows of contacts undergoing right angle bends to form two columns suitable for joining to a printed circuit board. The distal portions of the contacts are retained in a contact receiving wall provided with contact receiving slots equipped with spring back guards. This feature allows the resilience of the contact material to aid in maintaining contact alignment. Provision is made with the connector body to receive an environment sealing compound.
