  • Patent number: 5945680
Abstract: A method for activating photoinitiators in photosensitive substrates (6) like for instance printing inks, lacquers, and glue which set by radiation with UV light, and in which the photosensitive substrate and a light unit are moved relative to each other at a predetermined rate, the light unit comprising a UV light source (4) placed in a lamp housing (1) with a reflector (2, 10) for directing the UV light towards the substrate through an outlet opening, and in which the light emission is controlled by means of a control unit (50) emitting a signal to an electronic ballast (30) for the UV light source (4) depending on the mutual travel speed between the light unit and the substrate (6) and other predetermined parameters.

  • Patent number: 5929455
Abstract: A method for control of vegetation at places where said vegetation is undesirable, said method comprising intense irradiation of the vegetation for one or several periods by light, of which at least 10% of the effect is ultra-violet light, the total irradiation dosage (joule/m.sup.2) exceeding a minimal value necessary for the intended vegetation control. An apparatus for performing the method comprises at least one light source directed towards the undesired vegetation and emitting at least 10% of its light discharge in the ultra-violet range, said apparatus comprising means which after discharge of an irradiation dosage surpassing the minimal value necessary for the intended vegetation control discontinue the treatment of the areas in question.

  • Patent number: 5051666
Abstract: A circuit for starting and operating a gas discharge lamp (11) comprises: a DC power supply (73), which generates a DC power supply voltage; a high voltage generator (16, 18), which generates a high DC starting voltage from the DC power supply voltage and supplies the high DC starting voltage to the gas discharge lamp (11) so as to bring about a current flow therethrough; and inductor (15), which is connected in a closed loop circuit together withthe gas discharge lamp (11); a sensor (48), which is connected to the closed loop circuit for detecting the transmission of power therein; and a power switching (59, 60), which is switchable between a conducting state in which power is induced into the inductor (15) and a non-conducting state in which no power is induced into the inductor (15), and which is controlled by the sensor (48).

  • Patent number: 5023519
Abstract: A circuit is disclosed which is capable of positively shifting a gas discharge lamp from its off-state to its on-state without emitting light flashes and further positively maintains the gas discharge lamp in its on-state when first ignited. The circuit contains an oscillator device which generates and supplies an oscillator signal of a specific oscillator frequency from two output terminals of the oscillator device. It also contains a current limiting device an a parallel-resonance circuit comprising a capacitor and an inductor. The parallel resonance circuit has a frequency of resonance substantially identical to the oscillator frequency. The current limiting device and parallel-resonance circuit are connected in a series configuration across the output terminals of the oscillator device. Further, the gas discharge lamp is connected across or in parallel with the parallel-resonance circuit.

  • Patent number: 4464120
Abstract: A simulator and signal processing system for interactive simulation or signal processing of models of complex dynamic systems includes a range of basic hardware processor modules, each of which simulates or signal processes a system element corresponding e.g. to the symbols of System Dynamics. The hardware processor modules are placed in sockets arranged in regular rows and columns on an electronic planning board to form a flow diagram structure of the dynamic system to be simulated or signal processed. The electronic planning board comprises power lines for energizing the hardware processor modules and a high bandwidth local bus structure which transfer information signals between neighoring modules placed on the electronic planning board. The simulator and signal processing system permits a constant low simulation or signal processing time irrespective of the size or complexity of the model to be simulated or signal processed.
