Abstract: A disposable absorbent article such as, e.g., a T-shaped diaper comprising two portions, a lateral portion (backwaist) having two lateral segments or wings for wrapping around the waist of a wearer of the diaper, and a second vertical portion or insert which is adapted to be passed under the crotch of the wearer and folded thereover. A uniquely designed tape tab located at the outer lateral end of one wing assures more perfect and comfortable fit. Tape tabs are also provided at the distal ends of vertical portion for engagement onto landing zones disposed on the surface of each wing. These tape tabs may have the same general construction as the tape tab on the diaper wing. The dimensions of the diaper and several of its components and the relative locations of these components are important factors which contribute to improved fitness and functions of the diaper.

Abstract: A disposable absorbent article is provided to fit various torso sizes. The article having a laterally extending belt, which may be partly stretchable or elasticated, and an insert member disposed vertically relative to the belt. The insert member has a proximal end for attachment to the belt, and a distal end having two spaced apart tape tab fasteners. The belt has two wing portions disposed to the left and right sides of a vertical axis running through the insert member, and is provided with tape tab fasteners and landing zones adapted to engage with each other and with the tape tab fasteners on the distal end of the insert member when the belt is wrapped around the torso of a wearer and the insert member is folded onto the belt. In one embodiment, one wing is longer than the other wing of the belt, and in a further embodiment the belt is a half-belt, or one wing, attached to the left or right side of the proximal end of the insert member.

Abstract: An absorbent article is provided which comprises an absorbent body having a front waist portion, a back waist portion, a crotch portion, a pair of spaced apart leg openings, and a fastening region intermediate the crotch portion and the front waist portion. An elasticized band member is attached to the back waist portion and has a left hand band portion and a right hand band portion, both extending angularly from the area of the back waist portion toward the fastening region. The ends of each of the band portions are adapted to be engaged to one another and to the fastening region, and they may be tensioned to securely fasten the absorbent article to the body of the wearer.
