  • Patent number: 9277373
Abstract: Methods, systems and devices are provided for managing press-to-transmit (PTX) communications on a PTX device, including include receiving at a recipient PTX device a first indication that a floor grant has been granted to an originating PTX device. Also, determining whether a PTX message segment from the originating PTX device should be buffered for delayed playback by the recipient PTX device. Further, transmitting a buffer signal based on determining the PTX message segment should buffered, the buffer signal indicating one of a request to buffer the PTX message segment and a recipient storage indication signifying the PTX message segment will be stored in a memory of the recipient PTX device. Further still, transmitting a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output PTX message segments.

  • Patent number: 9167392
Abstract: User experience enhancements for conducting group communication sessions may include displaying visual feedback on a display to indicate a state of a group communication session. Embodiments may include establishing a group communication channel with devices in a first operating mode in response to inputs on a user interface, detecting actuation of a lock mechanism, such as a target-based sliding lock mechanism on a touchscreen user interface display, and while the lock mechanism is actuated, maintaining the group communication channel in a second operating mode. The second operating mode may be a lockout mode and/or a blocking mode with respect to at least one other device in the group communication.

  • Patent number: 9143903
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to requesting and providing acknowledgements to a talk spurt in a group communication. An embodiment transmits the talk spurt to one or more recipients participating in the group communication, receives a selection of one or more target recipients among the one or more participating recipients, and transmits a request to each of the one or more target recipients to acknowledge the talk spurt. An embodiment receives, at a mobile device, a talk spurt during the group communication, receives, at the mobile device, a request to acknowledge the talk spurt, and transmits, by the mobile device, an acknowledgement (ACK) or a negative acknowledgement (NACK) in response to the request without obtaining the floor of the group communication.

  • Patent number: 9112926
Abstract: A content recommendation apparatus and method gives users a peer-to-peer, highly personal way to discover new content by being introduced to one or more similar users. A similar user is a user that has a correlation to another user based on their preferences and behaviors (e.g., downloaded content, frequency of use, content currently have on device, browsing behaviors, content organizational habits, etc.). A catalog of content, or a designated portion thereof, can be used at least in part for finding matches and for identifying content to suggest to another. Data about user behavior can serve to connect the user to similar individuals for the purpose of discovering new content.

  • Patent number: 8970662
Abstract: Methods, systems and devices are provided for managing electronic communications on a communication device including receiving an incoming call indication from an originating device. The methods, system and devices may include transmitting a delay indication in response to determining the delayed call acceptance is warranted and receiving a first message segment and subsequently a second message segment from the originating device. Additionally, they may include outputting at least one of the first message segment and the second message segment in response to determining whether to output at least one of the first message segment and the second message segment. Further, they may include transmitting a playback status including a series of status indications reflecting an updated output progress of the first message segment at a recipient device in response to determining the first message segment should be output.

  • Publication number: 20120272156
Abstract: A communication device or handset presents a contextual catalog of content items to enhance mobile shopping user experience, mitigating display limitations for generally large content catalogs. Contextual information available on the handset, such as Global Positioning System (GPS) location or other readable parameters, can be used to determine unique, relevant categories, content or offers, for displaying through a user interface. Categories such as ‘local’ can be generated on-the-fly using GPS for a personalized content browsing experience. Additional context such as knowing that the user and device are rarely in a location (e.g., specific neighborhood, particular city, or country) can be used to generate unique price plans (such as day passes) that the user can use when travelling.
