  • Publication number: 20130201712
Abstract: A headlight for a motor vehicle composes at least two semiconductor-light sources and a plurality of light refractors and/or reflecting optics. Light of each of the semiconductor-light sources is directed into a front area of the headlight such that the light produces at the front area a rule-consistent light distribution. An illuminated section of the light distribution of a first of the semiconductor-light sources is not identical with an illuminated section of a second of the semiconductor-light sources. The first semiconductor-light source defines a first construction type and the second semiconductor-light source defines a second construction type. The first construction type defines higher luminous flux and lower efficiency relative to luminous flux and efficiency defined by the second construction type.

  • Patent number: 7125150
Abstract: Headlight for a motor vehicle comprising a reflector and a light source (S) running transversely to the optical axis (Y—Y) of the reflector and placed near the focal point of the reflector. The transverse light source (S) is placed near the internal focal point (Fi) of an ellipsoidal reflector (R1). The wall of the ellipsoidal reflector has a cutout (1) situated on one side of the plane passing through the geometric axis of the light source (S) and parallel to the optical axis (Y—Y) of the ellipsoidal reflector. A lens (2) with an optical axis parallel to or coincident with that of the ellipsoidal reflector (R1) is placed in front of this reflector, the focal point (3) of the lens being close to the external focal point (Fe) of the ellipsoidal reflector.

  • Patent number: 6210027
Abstract: A set of left and right motor vehicle headlamps, each headlamp including a reflector associated with a light source and a closure front-glass. In accordance with the invention, the left and right headlamps are respectively adapted to generate horizontally spread left and right illumination beams, each beam having a fuzzy edge on the left and on the right, said edges being asymmetric relative to the axis of the road, the left edge of the left beam being offset angularly to the left relative to the left edge of the right beam, and the right edge of the right beam being offset angularly to the right relative to the right edge of the left beam. Applications include forming homogeneous beams with a wide spread.

  • Patent number: 6186652
Abstract: A motor vehicle headlamp comprises a light source of predetermined geometry, and a reflector associated with the light source. The reflector is made by a method that includes the steps of: (a) establishing a reflective base surface having a reference focus and giving a predetermined distribution of the light emitted by a light source having a given geometry and a given position with respect to the reference focus, mainly in the vertical direction, (b) in at least one zone, determining a line passing through all of the points that give the same predetermined horizontal deviation of a theoretical radiation propagated from the reference focus, (c) modifying the base surface so as to put on it, substantially along the line determined in step (b), a striation for horizontal diffusion of the light, (d) making a mould in conformity with this modified surface, and (e) moulding the reflector in this mould.

  • Patent number: 6024473
Abstract: A motor vehicle headlight reflector and a headlight constructed therefrom, wherein the reflector comprises a plurality of laterally juxtaposed zones bounding transition lines with a break of slope. Each zone has a smooth reflective surface and is adapted to spread light horizontally between two limits obtained in the immediate vicinity of the transition lines. The limits of horizontal spread in each zone varies progressively with displacement along the transition line concerned. The invention also includes a method of making the motor vehicle headlight reflector.

  • Patent number: 5651610
Abstract: A headlamp for a motor vehicle has a lamp with an axial filament which emits light all around it, together with a reflector and a cover glass. The reflector produces a beam which is delimited by a cut-off line defined by two half planes which are offset from each other in the vertical direction, and which lie on either side of a vertical reference plane. A first lateral zone of the reflector has a reflective surface which forms a concentrated beam delimited by a straight, horizontal first cut-off line, situated entirely on one side of the vertical reference plane. A second zone of the reflector, extending over the base surface of the latter and on the opposite side, has a reflective surface which produces a wide beam delimited by a straight and horizontal second cut-off line.
