Patent number: 7815336Abstract: A portable lighting device, such as a flashlight, having a rotatable band disposed around the exterior of the flashlight is disclosed. Rotational movement of the band is converted to lateral movement of the light emitting element within the flashlight. The structural integrity of the flashlight is not compromised when the rotatable band is rotated around the flashlight to adjust the width of the projected pattern of light.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2009Date of Patent: October 19, 2010Assignee: Eveready Battery Company, Inc.Inventors: Kang Woon Au, Siu Bong Ng, Wing On Tang

Patent number: 7393117Abstract: A flashlight (10) including: a housing (12) with a light source (104), a power source (142), and an aperture (126) through the housing (12) that is closed by a resilient cover (112). The resilient cover (112) extends over a switch assembly (18) and provides a waterproof seal for the housing (12). An indicator means (146), when illuminated, is visible through the resilient cover (112). A waterproof flashlight (10) having an electric contact (154) extending through a contact aperture (38) formed in the housing (12) with resilient sealing means (164) between to establish a water tight seal. A securement means (158) to place the resilient means (164) under compression. When not in use, the flashlight (10) may be stowed on a base (40) for recharging through the electrical contact (154).Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2004Date of Patent: July 1, 2008Assignee: Eveready Battery Company, Inc.Inventors: David R. Patent number: 5684378Abstract: A rechargeable flashlight is provided comprising in combination a tubular housing open at one end and closed at an opposite end. An integral lamp assembly and power supply circuit are slidably received within the tubular housing. An electrical connector is provided at the closed end of the tubular housing to selectively interconnect the power supply circuit to an external electrical power source, such as an AC socket, to recharge the battery. In a second position, the electrical connector is disconnected from the power supply circuit, and power is provided by the rechargeable battery. The open end of the tubular housing is closed by a removable lens assembly, concentrically receiving a lamp extending from the integral lamp assembly, for organizing the light produced by the lamp into a beam.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1995Date of Patent: November 4, 1997Assignee: Eveready Battery CompanyInventors: David A.
