    Abstract: An impact dissipating bollard system includes a vertical stanchion and a composite energy-absorbing deformable cartridge configured to be positioned within a retaining foundation that includes a rigid core portion including a stanchion-receiving aperture and first and second projections extending from the rigid core portion. The first and second projections, together with the core portion, form the dumbbell shape. Energy-absorbing resilient elastic material surrounds the rigid core portion and is positioned within recesses within the first and second projections. The bollard system is configured such that impact energy is transferred from the vertical stanchion to deform the composite energy-absorbing deformable cartridge. The bollard system retaining foundation includes a reinforcing frame embedded in concrete and having a strength of least 30 MPa.

    Abstract: Provided is an adaptive strap for brassieres having at least one adaptive material layer (10) having a first strength modulus x during static loading and a second strength modulus of at least 2× during dynamic loading of at least approximately 3 Hz oscillation. The adaptive layer (10) is sandwiched between two or more elastic fabric layers (20). The adaptive strap is extendable up to 100% of its initial length during low wearer activity but is extendable not more than 50% during vigorous wearer activity, providing support during exercise and comfort during daily use. In one aspect the adaptive material is a reaction product formed by reacting a silanol terminated polydimethylsiloxane, polymer matrix, boric acid and optional fillers. The adaptive material (10) is cured in situ within the elastic fabric layers (20).

    Abstract: Artificial intelligence for detecting a medical condition using facial images. In an embodiment, a convolutional neural network is applied to a facial image to identify facial landmarks, which are then used to align the facial image to a standard template. Next, the aligned facial image is projected into multi-views, and a second convolutional neural network is applied to the multi-views to extract global features. A facial-omics model is also applied to the aligned facial image to extract local features. A classification model is applied to the global features and the local features to predict one or more clinical parameters and/or medical conditions.

A server in the cloud environment receives a photo of a food item fed to a virtual character in an augmented reality environment in the gamified application executing on a user device, invokes the custom machine learning model to generate classification information for the photo, sends the classification information to the user device for verification by a user, and stores the verified information to the data store used for periodically training the machine learning model.     Abstract: Disclosed is an electrokinetic-aeration-liquid injection combined remediation method for compound contaminated soil containing heavy metals and organic substances, and belongs to the field of contaminated soil remediation. According to the present application, in the combined remediation method, the electrokinetic remediation method enables water in soil to migrate from bottom to top to drive heavy metals and organic substances to be enriched towards the top; bubbles generated by the aeration method are diffused from the bottom to the top to drive volatile organic compounds to move towards the top soil. During liquid injection process, the electrolyte is driven to move from bottom to top under the action of electrokinetic remediation flow, which can keep the pH of the soil stable and remediate heavy metals and organic pollutants. The whole processes are simultaneously completed by adopting the dual-channel porous EKG electrode designed by the present application, which is efficient and convenient.
