    Abstract: The present application discloses a link discovery method and apparatus. The method includes: when a network device receives a first LLDP packet sent by a directly connected device, determining a security level of the directly connected device according to an authentication TLV; if the security level of the directly connected device is secure, determining a device type of the directly connected device, and sending a second LLDP packet to the directly connected device according to a correspondence between the device type of the directly connected device and a TLV. In the present application, a corresponding TLV is selected according to the device type and sent, which avoids that all types of TLVs are sent to a directly connected device every time, and reduces a possibility of device information leakage. It is ensured that a sent LLDP packet is more proper, and a link overhead is reduced.

The method includes: receiving, by a first transit RB, a Nickname of an edge RB sent by a second transit RB; constructing, an address advertisement message, where the address advertisement message includes a virtual IP address and a virtual MAC address of the first transit RB; and sending, the address advertisement message to the edge RB according to the Nickname of the edge RB, so that the edge RB sends, after receiving the address advertisement message, a free ARP packet to a server that accesses the TRILL network through the edge RB, where the free ARP packet includes a correspondence between the virtual MAC address and the virtual IP address.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a method, system of fault detection for pseudo wires (PW) and a provider edge router (PE) thereof. The method includes the following. A remote PE receives, from a local PE, a first bonding relationship between a PW and an LSP of which the starting point is the local PE. After the remote PE detects a fault of the LSP, the remote PE determines a fault of the PW based on the detected fault of the LSP, a second bonding relationship between the PW and an LSP of which the starting point is the remote PE, and the received first bonding relationship, wherein the second bonding relationship is pre-configured at the remote PE. The method, system and PE of fault detection for a pseudo wire according to embodiments of the present invention can detect a fault of the PW precisely, ensuring the consistency of PW statuses detected by PEs at the two ends of the PW.

    Abstract: A method and system for switching the serving services of virtual private LAN is provided. When a fault occurs on a normal service transmission path, a PE device on the secondary path transmits a message including an information of the failure device on the normal service transmission path to the other PE devices on the path to indicate the path switching; the other PE devices replace the faulty PE device corresponding to the transmission path item in VPLS transmission table as the PE device on the secondary path according to the received message for indicating the path switching. Using the present invention, when an access device detects a fault, the VPLS service can switch to the secondary path immediately without affecting other services; because the VPLS messages do not need to be broadcasted during path switching, the network bandwidth will not be wasted.
