    Abstract: A fluoroescent display panel has at least one indirectly heated cathode which is easy to manufacture, at a low cost. The cathode produces a uniformly lit display across the entire read out. An indirectly heated cathode comprises a metal sleeve having a layer of electron emissive material. A heating wire passes through the metal sleeve. The metal sleeve and the heating wire are electrically isolated from each other by an insulative layer on the heating wire, except at one portion where the metal sleeve and the heating wire are mechanically and electrically connected to each other.
