  • Patent number: 4977780
Abstract: An ultrasonic probe device includes an ultrasonic probe for transmitting ultrasonic waves toward and receiving ultrasonic echoes from a target region in a body under examination, and an ultrasonic coupler for being interposed between the ultrasonic probe and the surface of the body. The ultrasonic probe device can accurately detect Doppler information on the central area of the target region.

  • Patent number: 4867169
Abstract: In the present invention, an attachment which is attached to an ultrasound probe for clinical application is as follows. When the attachment is brought into contact with a skin surface of a body, the ultrasound probe radiates ultrasound beams toward the body which is scanned with ultrasound beams in a first plane. The attachment comprises a reservoir section for holding an acoustic medium, an attachment section for attaching the attachment to the ultrasound probe, and a contact membrane arranged opposite to the attachment section to be brought into contact with the skin surface. The dimension of the contact membrane is smaller than that of the attachment section when the reservoir section is cut at a plane perpendicular to the first plane. The reservoir section is formed without causing the reservoir section to shield the ultrasound beams which are converged by the convergence means.

  • Patent number: 4794930
Abstract: An attachment to a diagnostic ultrasound probe having a beam radiating surface from which ultrasound beam is radiated in a first plane toward a skin surface of an organic body through the attachment which comprises a reservoir section containing acoustic medium. The reservoir section includes an auxiliary membrane, a contact membrane, and a first plane. The auxiliary membrane has an outer surface in contact with the beam radiating surface and is capable of transmitting an ultrasound beam. The contact membrane is arranged to face the auxiliary membrane, has an outer surface in contact with the skin surface of an organic body, and an inner surface, and is capable of transmitting an ultrasound beam. The first wall connects the auxiliary membrane with the contact membrane and has the inner surface crossing the first plane.

  • Patent number: 4603589
Abstract: An ultrasonic flowmeter for ultrasonically measuring physical parameters of a media flowing in a measuring path between two ultrasonic transducer circuits each including transmitting and receiving circuits, each including respective transducers. The measuring path has at least one component in the direction of flow and over which ultrasonic signals are sent alternately upstream and downstream. A detector connected to the receiving circuit operates to detect an envelope curve of the received ultrasonic signal. After detecting the envelope curve of the ultrasonic signal, the zero-crossing point of the envelope curve is determined electrically or arithmetically. The propagation period of ultrasonic waves is developed by defining the zero-crossing point as the beginning of receiving of the ultrasonic signal. Then, the velocity of flow and the volume of flow are calculated based on the propagation periods obtained from the envelope curve of the received ultrasonic signal.

  • Patent number: 4581942
Abstract: A measuring conduit adapted for flow rate and concentration of a fluid for use in a measuring apparatus which measures both the flow rate of the fluid such as a respiratory gas containing a particular gas component, for example, carbon dioxide, using an ultrasonic wave and the concentration of the particular gas component in an optical manner. In order to simultaneously measure the flow rate and concentration and also to reduce the dead space of the measuring conduit, this measuring conduit comprises a single conduit member through which the fluid flows; a pair of ultrasonic transducers attached to the conduit member so as to face each other along a line slanted with respect to a flow direction of the fluid; and a pair of light transmitting windows airtightly provided in the wall of the conduit member between the ultrasonic transducers so as to face each other. One of the light transmitting windows introduces a light beam from an external light source into the conduit member.

  • Patent number: 4537203
Abstract: This invention discloses an abnormal cell detecting device having at least a pair of electrodes to be attached to a portion of a body. At least one electrode of the pair of electrodes is constituted by a plurality of independent electrodes cells. One voltage at a frequency is applied between the pair of electrodes, and another voltage of a different frequency is applied between them. As a result, electrostatic capacitances corresponding to the two frequencies are measured between the electrodes as voltages by a capacitance measuring unit. The ratio of the voltages is calculated by a division unit, and the resultant ratio is digitally sent out through an A/D converter to a memory unit. Digital signals corresponding to a plurality of electrode cells are stored as image data in the memory unit. A display unit displays the position and size of abnormal cells, based on the image data of the memory unit.

  • Patent number: 4464777
Abstract: Disclosed is a radiography apparatus comprising an X-ray tube for radiating X-ray beam in a fan shape, a detector for detecting the X-ray beam coming through a living body at a plurality of angular components of the X-ray beam, and a sampling circuit for sampling an output signal of the detector when the living body moves at a given speed in a direction orthogonal to the plane of the X-ray beam, whereby a radiogram is formed by using the output signal of the sampling circuit. In the radiography apparatus, the distance between the living body and the X-ray tube is variable and is detected by a potentiometer interlocked with the movement of the living body. A pulse signal at a frequency corresponding to an output level of the potentiometer is produced by a pulse frequency modulation circuit, and is supplied as a timing signal to the sampling circuit.
