  • Patent number: 5467215
Abstract: An array of reflective LCSLM pixels formed on a substrate with a light polarizing layer positioned in overlying relationship to the array. A light source mounted in an optically clear support positioned in overlying relationship to and spaced from the array, so that light evenly illuminates the array through the support and allows passage of reflected light from the array back through the support. Electrical connections are made from the array, through leads in the support and to external contacts. A diffuser mounted in overlying and spaced relationship to the support to form an image plane for reflected light from the array.

  • Patent number: 5345527
Abstract: An intelligent opto-bus including an optical/electrical connector with a display. An array of photonic components is mounted on a base and coupled to external electrical connections of the base. Electronics are mounted on the base and coupled to the array for sensing the operation of the array and the status of optical signals supplied to optical ports of the array. A display is coupled to the electronics to provide a visual indication of the operation of the array and the status of optical signals supplied to the optical ports of the array. The base is molded with a well and grooves. The electronics and display are positioned in the well and the grooves form optical waveguides that communicate with a fiber ribbon.

  • Patent number: 5323477
Abstract: A compact array imager including image generation apparatus providing a real image at an inlet of an optical image waveguide. The real image being reflected a plurality of times within the optical image waveguide by diffractive optical elements that magnify and filter the real image and produce a virtual image at a viewing aperture The imager further includes electronics mounted on the sides of the optical image waveguide and coupled to the image generation apparatus by embedded molded signal waveguides for receiving signals representative of an image and controlling the apparatus to generate the image.

  • Patent number: 5074645
Abstract: A full color 3D projection display using wavelength separation which, through a combination of retarders, prisms and dichroic and polarizing coatings, takes linearly polarized red and green light of p orientation from left and right images and blue linearly polarized light of p orientation from one of the views or a common image, and presents the light for projection having green and red light of one polarization orientation for one view and red and green light of a polarization with another orientation for providing the 3D components of the image. The blue light component is presented alternately in one of both polarization orientations to be perceived with the left and right views, respectively.
