Abstract: A method for producing a hair-fixing product in the form of a foil is described whereby first a viscous, rollable composition is prepared by dissolving or dispersing a polymer in a liquid carrier medium and then the composition is shaped into a foil by rolling it with the aid of a rolling device and the liquid carrier medium is evaporated. Also described are hair-styling foils that contain at least one hair-fixing polymer and advantageously additional surfactants or polyols and that preferably are treated with an adhering, powdered, hydrophobic release agent.

Abstract: A composition for permanent hair shaping comprising: (i) About 0.5% by weight to about 35% by weight of a N-alkyl-2-mercaptoacetamide of formula ?wherein R1 is a straight chain alkyl residue with about 3 to about 6 carbon atoms or a straight chain hydroxyalkyl with about 3 to about 6 carbon atoms, R2 and R3 are hydrogen or straight chain alkyl residues with about 1 to about 3 carbon atoms, or the salt thereof; (ii) About 0.1% by weight to about 30% by weight of at least one hair swelling and penetration enhancing substance; and (iii) About 5% by weight to about 95% by weight of water; and the method of permanently shaping hair using said composition.

Abstract: A product release system for atomizing compositions is described, which has (a) a pressure-resistant packaging, (b) a capillary-containing spray head, and (c) a propellant-containing composition. The atomization occurs using the capillary and the composition contains at least one reactive agent, which is selected from hair-keratin-reducing compounds or is selected from oxidizing agents. The capillary preferably has a diameter of 0.1 to 1 mm and a length of 5 to 100 mm. The spray rate is preferably 0.01 to 5 g/s. The propellant-free composition can, in particular, be gel-like, waxy, non-fluid, or solid and can be used in a method for permanent hair shaping.

Abstract: An optically clear, transparent or translucent hair conditioner in the form of a water-in-silicone oil emulsion is described. Said hair conditioner contains a silicone surfactant, a hydrophobic, nonsurfactant silicone compound present in the hair conditioner in liquid form, a basic or cationic nitrogen atom-containing hair-conditioning compound, a nonionic, silicone-free surfactant, a polyhydric alcohol and an electrolyte. The hair conditioner can be used as a leave-in hair treatment or as a hair rinse.

Abstract: Gasified particles for cosmetic treatments, particularly hair treatments, are described. The gasified particles contain at least one gas enclosed in a solid enveloping material. The enveloping material is selected so that the gas is released on contact of the enveloping material with water or moisture. The release of the gas can be accompanied by a detectable acoustic effect (pop effect). The hair treatment composition also can provide a hair fixing effect. Furthermore an instant gel preparation is described substantially comprising a mixture of dry substances, which contains at least one gel former and at least one solid substance producing a detectable acoustic effect on contact with moisture, especially gasified particles. The gasified particles are used as acoustic indicators for the readiness of the instant preparation after liquid addition.

Abstract: The hair treatment composition for increasing the formability and luster of hair contains from 0.01 to 10 percent by weight of a copolymer formed from at least one ethylenic unsaturated monomer of the formula (I): CH2═CR1R2  (I), wherein R1 is A—(CH2CH2O)x—R3 or COOH group and A is C(═O)O, C(═O)NH or CH2O, x is a number from 1 to 100, R3 is a C8- to C30-alkyl group, R2 is H, a C1- to C30-alkyl group or a CH2—R1 group, with the proviso that at least one of the groups, R1 and R2, contain the A—(CH2CH2O)x—R3 group; and from at least one ethylenic unsaturated monomer of the formula (II): CH2═CR4COOR5  (II), wherein R4 and R5 are, independently of each other, H or an alkyl group with 1 to 30 carbon atoms; from 0.01 to 50 percent by weight of a polyethylene glycol with a molecular weight over 500 g/mol and from 0.01 to 20 percent by weight of a nonionic surfactant having an HLB-value under 20.

Abstract: The hair treatment compositions are in a variety of forms including permanent shaping compositions, oxidative after-treatment compositions, hair fixing compositions, hair bleaching compositions, hair cleansing compositions, hair care compositions or hair dye compositions containing direct-dyeing dye compounds and/or a combination of at least one developer and coupler and are characterized by 0.1 to 35 percent by weight of at least one dendrimer, preferably a poly(iminopropane-1,3-diyl)-dendrimer with nitrile and/or amino end groups. Methods of hair treatment based on these hair treatment compositions are described.

Abstract: The hair treatment composition contains at least one nonionic, water-insoluble vinyl/silicone copolymer having a backbone chain of siloxane polymer units and a side chain of vinyl polymer units and at least one nonvolatile silicone derivative compound. Hair, which is treated with the composition according to the invention, has a long-lasting fixing effect, which lasts through several washings. The hair treated with the composition of the invention is flexible and has a natural feel.

Abstract: The hair cleansing composition contains from 0.1 to 30 percent by weight of a dimethylsiloxanelmethyl-3-mercapto-propylsiloxane/isobutylmethacrylate copolymer and from 3 to 50 percent by weight of at least one detergent surfactant. The composition can also contain dimethylsiloxane glycol copolymers and/or polydimethylsiloxanes with or without hydroxy terminal groups. This composition has a definite fixing effect as well as satisfactory hair cleaning action. The film formed on the hair after washing and drying the hair does not significantly load the hair or leave an appreciable residue.

Abstract: The aqueous or aqueous/alcoholic cosmetic composition for treating, forming or maintaining a hair style includes from 0.01 to 25 percent by weight of a natural or synthetic hair fixing or thickening polymer and from 0.01 to 2.5 percent by weight of polyamide or silk fibers, each of the polyamide or silk fibers having a length of from 150 to 2000 .mu.m or from 1 to 1100 .mu.m respectively and a diameter of from 8 to 70 .mu.m, so that the polyamide or silk fibers are deposited in the hair when the composition is applied to the hair. In the method of treating, forming or maintaining the hair style the composition is distributed on the hair so that the fibers are deposited in the hair and then the hair is combed, set in the hair style and dried. Other fibers including viscose, polyester, cellulose, flax linen, wool and cotton can be used instead of silk or polyamide in the composition.

Abstract: The aqueous, alcoholic or aqueous/alcoholic composition for fixing hair includes from 1.0 to 10 percent by weight of a sulfur-free lignin, which can be hydroxypropyl lignin, hydroxybutyl lignin, dihydroxypropyl lignin and/or mixtures thereof; from 1 to 15% by weight of a film-forming polymer; and a solvent including water, an alcohol having one to four carbon atoms and/or mixtures thereof. It can be in the form of an aerosol hair spray, a non-aerosol hair spray, a non-aerosol foam or a non-aerosol hair lacquer. The composition can also include 2 to 80 percent by weight of a propellant.
