  • Patent number: 6806066
Abstract: In an expression vector having a ColE1 replication system, the homology of the RNAI and RNAII of the ColE1 origin of replication to uncharged tRNAs is modified mutations in the coding region of the RNAI gene and corresponding mutations in the RNAII gene. The mutation results in one or more base exchanges in loop 1 and/or loop 2 and/or loop 3 of RNAI and RNAII. In methods using this vector for producing recombinant proteins, plasmid copy number is stably maintained. In methods for plasmid production, high plasmid copy numbers can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 4687182
Abstract: A height adjustable pot bearing is provided having a pot, a steel cover plate and an elastic plate of substantially incompressible elastomeric material disposed in and completely filling the pressure chamber defined between the cover plate and the pot. A circumferential slot is provided in the base of the elastic plate radially inwardly from the outer wall of the plate so that a circumferential lip is formed. The pressurized fluid supplied to the pressure chamber of the pot bearing presses against the base of the elastic plate to lift the elastic plate and the cover plate and forces the circumferential lip radially outwardly against the wall of the pot to seal thereagainst.

  • Patent number: 4610431
Abstract: An adjustable load support for lifting, lowering, and transferring heavy loads is provided, comprising a hollow container having a bottom, side walls, and a liftable top. A portion of the top protrudes into the interior of the container. An elastomeric mass substantially fills the remainder of the interior of the container. Sealing elements are also provided which seal the portion of the top of the container extending into the interior of the container with the side walls. A substantially flat diaphragm is located between the elastomeric mass and the bottom of the container. The diaphragm is substantially parallel to the plane of the bottom of the container but is not in contact with the side walls of the container. Means for introducing a pressurized medium between the diaphragm and the elastomeric mass through an opening in the diaphragm is also provided. When the pressurized medium is introduced into the container between the diaphragm and the elastomeric mass, the top of the container is lifted.
