  • Patent number: 6176348
Abstract: A lubricating system has a housing formed with an intake passage, a drive shaft extending longitudinally in the housing and carrying a plurality of longitudinally spaced worm gears, and respective pumps juxtaposed with the worm gears in the housing. Each pump has a cylinder fixed in the housing, centered on a respective transverse axis, and forming an intake port connected to the passage and an output port. A cavity-forming piston is rotatable about and reciprocal along the respective transverse axis and a worm wheel on the piston meshes with the respective worm gear. An axially projecting cam ramp on the worm wheel is axially engageable with an abutment on the housing. This abutment can be moved axially and for fixing it in any of a multiplicity of positions for varying axial deflection of the piston. A spring bearing against the piston urges the ramp toward the abutment.

  • Patent number: 5137444
Abstract: A process for operating a burner fed with liquid fuel, in particular a vaporization burner of a heater in which, preferably, a motor vehicle add-on heater is involved. In this operating process, after the burner has been in steady state operation for a predetermined period, the fuel feed is briefly interrupted. The predetermined period of steady state operation of the burner is preferably about 5 to 20 minutes, while the fuel feed is interrupted for about 5 to 25 seconds. With this operating process, deposits on the burner can be reduced so that the service life of the burner can be considerably increased.

  • Patent number: 4905895
Abstract: In a heating device, particularly one intended for use as a vehicle auxiliary heating device, a heat exchanger is provided for a liquid heat exchange medium, which is of a quadrangular, preferably cuboid design, having a planar closed end. Inside the heat exchanger, inner fins are provided defining exhaust gas channels, whose free ends are approximately on a circle whose center is the center axis of the heat exchanger or that of the cylindrical combustion chamber as a transition between the cylindrical combustion chamber and a rectanguloid outer housing which surrounds the heat exchanger. An outer, flat surface of the housing may be formed with a receiver for a control or similar device.

  • Patent number: 4278922
Abstract: An assembly which is to be used for generating adjustment movements on automobile ventilation devices driven by electric motors. The assembly is especially designed for use on roof openings or sunroofs closeable by a lid. The assembly is characterized in that a generator is coupled to a component of the automobile which revolves during traveling and the rotational speed of which is directly proportional to the speed of travel. A control signal directly proportional to the speed of travel is obtained from the generator by means of which the adjustment drive for the ventilation device can be switched on according to the speed of travel. The adjustment drive can be switched on in the direction of closing the ventilation device at a higher speed and in the direction of opening at a lower speed.

  • Patent number: 4122921
Abstract: A wedge actuated brake assembly has movable brake shoes adapted to engage a surrounding brake drum with a housing having first and second openings therein. A plunger assembly is guided for linear movement in each of the first and second openings and adapted when urged out of the openings to force the shoe toward the drum. A flexible sealing member surrounds each of the first and second openings and each of the plunger assemblies. The flexible sealing member has a circular metallic body to be received within the end of each of the first and second openings to a depth determined by a radially extending lip formed thereon. The flexible sealing member includes a flexible boot bonded at one end to the circular metallic body. The boot is generally in the form of a truncated cone having a radially inwardly facing lip at its end opposite the end of the boot bonded to the circular metallic body.
