  • Patent number: 4718227
Abstract: An open-end spinning process in which the fiber sliver is separated into single fibers and in which the separated fiber material is brought by an air stream to a collecting surface from which it is drawn off while being twisted. According to the instant invention the fiber material is deposited on a collecting surface moving in the direction of thread draw-off, is then twisted and is continuously drawn off said collecting surface in form of a thread. The single fibers are fed upon the collecting surface in the direction of said collecting surface's movement, whereby an alignment of the fibers on the collecting surface takes place. The doubling process is separated from the spinning process as the fiber material is bundled and/or doubled on the collecting surface into a fiber sliver with the fiber mass required for the desired thread. The twisting process takes place independently of the collecting surface by means of a known twisting mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4700539
Abstract: In an open-end spinning device with two friction rollers driven in the same direction, located next to each other and forming a spinning nip, at least one of such friction rollers has a perforated casing which is over-mounted at one end. Such roller further contains a suction insert with a suction orifice connected to a negative pressure (i.e. vacuum) source. The perforated casing is supported on a shaft, one end of which is received and supported in a portion of the suction insert. The suction insert is located within the casing, directly behind it, and has a constant cross-section up to its connection with a suction line. In such manner, a maximum suction cross-section is provided with minimum support requirements.

  • Patent number: 4697409
Abstract: The invention concerns an open-end spinning device with a release mechanism and two friction rollers in close proximity of each other, said friction rollers being driven in the same direction, wherein fibers are twisted together into a thread within the notch zone formed by said friction rollers, and furthermore concerns a thread draw-off device. According to the invention, the fibers are fed into the notch via a collecting surface moving parallel to the thread forming line. The collecting surface is located on the periphery of a disk-like cylinder, the rotational axis of said cylinder being located in a plane perpendicular to the notch. In a variant, the collecting surface is located on the surface of a disk or within a rotor in the form of an inner cone.

  • Patent number: 4345356
Abstract: A mechanism for eliminating impurities from fibrous material, in particular cotton, having at least two card-clothed rolls (22, 23) arranged after a feed mechanism and a screening drum (3) to which said fibrous material is fed by means of an airstream. A housing closely encloses the two card-clothed rolls. Interposed in the housing are separating openings including separating edges. One of said two card-clothing rolls (23) cooperating with the other of the two card-clothed rolls has a take-off and loosener roll for the fibrous material and the centrifugal forces at the circumference of the second card-clothed roll (23) being greater than at the first card-clothed roll (22). A third card-clothed roll is positioned in carding relation with the first card-clothed roll. Another take-off and loosener roll (52) is positioned for removing fibers from the third card-clothed roll (5).

  • Patent number: 4265083
Abstract: A method and apparatus for individually piecing up yarn on an open-end spinning machine which has a spinning rotor and a rotor brake. A rotor cleaning apparatus is carried on a pivotal cover and is used for cleaning the rotor responsive to being activated. A pivotal lever which when moved relative to the cover simultaneously activates the rotor cleaning apparatus and the rotor brake causing the rotor to be cleaned as the rotor is being stopped. The yarn is pieced up when the rotor is being brought back up to running speed.

  • Patent number: 4135276
Abstract: An apparatus for removing impurities from fibrous material such as cotton comprising a first and second clothed driven roller with said second clothed driven roller being in fiber transfer relation with said first clothed roller. A rotating cylindrical cage is provided for receiving said fibrous material from said second clothed roller by means of an air stream flowing through a passage which tapers towards said cylindrical cage. A suction is applied to the interior of the cylindrical cage for drawing air through the periphery of the cage for removing impurities from the fibrous material passing therethrough. Passages are associated with said first and second clothed rollers and have separating edges provided therein for aiding in removing impurities from said fibrous material as it passes over said rollers.

  • Patent number: 3972171
Abstract: One end of the housing for a spinning turbine is closed by a cover adjacent to the spinning cup mouth, which cover is connected with sliver-supply and yarn drawoff apparatus. The other housing end portion encircles a sleeve having bearings for the spinning cup shaft. Such shaft may be connected to drive means such as a belt or a commutatorless direct current motor, which drive means can be quickly disconnected. The sleeve-encircling housing portion includes quickly-releasable means for releasing the bearing sleeve for removal either alone or with attached drive means, and for replacement by a substitute bearing unit. The housing may have a longitudinal slit through a portion of its wall and cooperating lugs on each side of the slit for receiving nut and bolt means to clamp the split housing around the bearing sleeve. Alternatively, a set screw extends through the housing wall and bears on the sleeve to prevent sleeve movement.
