  • Patent number: 4579175
Abstract: The disclosed invention reduces water production substantially more than hydrocarbon production in producing wells by the injection of an aqueous solution of alginates. The alginate solution or following solutions may optionally contain agents for decelerating or accelerating gelling of the alginate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 10, 1984
Date of Patent: April 1, 1986
    Assignee: Deutsche Texaco Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Karl-Heinz Grodde, Hartwig Volz
  • Patent number: 4282930
Abstract: An improved polymer flood process for the recovery of petroleum from a subterranean formation wherein a slug of a fresh water aqueous solution of a salt-insensitive polymer is injected into the formation prior to the undertaking of the polymer flood using a fresh water solution containing a partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 12, 1979
Date of Patent: August 11, 1981
    Assignee: Deutsche Texaco Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Karl-Heinz Grodde, Hartwig Volz
  • Patent number: 4214475
Abstract: An adapter for a sensitive viscometer. It provides increased drag at low shear rates to increase the accuracy. There is an inverted cup shaped rotor that cooperates with an annular shaped stationary container for the fluid to be measured. The annular shape of the container provides reaction surfaces with the fluid on both the inner and outer surfaces of the rotor. And, there is a reservoir in the stationary container with an overflow edge, so that the quantity of fluid to be measured is accurately metered.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 30, 1978
Date of Patent: July 29, 1980
Assignees: Texaco Inc., Deutsche Texaco Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Walter H. Carter, Charles A. Christopher, Karl-Heinz Grodde
  • Patent number: 4212794
Abstract: This invention relates to an aqueous drilling fluid containing a tall oil fraction as a lubricating additive, a method of drilling with said drilling fluid containing said tall oil lubricating additive and the tall oil lubricating additive per se.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 21, 1977
Date of Patent: July 15, 1980
    Assignee: Deutsche Texaco Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Karl-Heinz Grodde, Alfred Schulz

  • Patent number: 3959647
Abstract: The interface between two fluids such as oil and water in an underground cavern may be detected by placing a gelled substance containing a source of gamma radiation at the interface and detecting the emissions from the gelled substance.
    Type: Grant
