Abstract: A transport system or means of transport includes vehicles detachably connected to one another and a data transmission apparatus for wired data transmission between the vehicles and within the vehicles. In each vehicle the data transmission apparatus includes data coupling units for the data transmission between the respective vehicle and vehicles connected to it as well as two separate data connections connecting its two data coupling units. Each data coupling unit has four data ports as well as one or more switch units which can be used to produce different electrical connection states for the data ports. A method for data transmission in such a transport system or means of transport is also provided.

Abstract: An automation system has a first automation controller and a redundant second automation controller. The automation system further includes at least one peripheral unit and a bus system interconnecting the two automation controllers and the at least one peripheral unit. The peripheral unit is connected to the bus system through a bus interface unit. The bus interface unit has a first bus controller associated with the first automation controller, a second bus controller associated with the second automation controller, and a switching unit for switching between the two bus controllers. A method for operating the automation system selects one of the two automation controllers for controlling the automation system, depending on the situation.

Abstract: A method for producing can bodies made of sheet metal for the manufacture of cans includes a step of bringing together and placing one on top of the other of two sheet metal strips. The sheet metal strips, which are placed one on top of the other, are joined by means of several joint welds which extend continuously in the longitudinal direction of the strip through continuous moving of the sheet metal strips past a laser welding device which has several laser heads arranged at corresponding mutual spacings. The sheet metal strips, which are welded together, are longitudinally cut by laser cutting along each weld joint in order to produce several adjacent flat tubes. The welding and the longitudinal cutting are effected simultaneously with one laser head respectively.
