    Abstract: A multi-unit rail vehicle for commuter traffic. To keep the entry and exit of the vehicle only slightly higher than the level of the street, and to make it possible to travel through the entire vehicle without steps, a continuous, level central walkway is provided that is at the same height as the entryway. To accommodate the driving bogie, the wheel sets are driven via drive shafts and reduction gear mechanisms. The drive motors can be disposed to the side below the car body and beyond the pivot range of the bogie. If room permits, vertical motors can also be provided in one corner of the car body, with such a vertical motor also driving the wheel sets via drive shafts and reduction gear mechanisms. Advantageously, two drive motors can be provided that are disposed diagonally across from one another relative to the point of rotation of the bogie, with the drive shafts of the motors being parallel to the wheel sets, and torque being transferred via further drive shafts.

    Abstract: A vestibule connection for the adjoining ends of two cars of a rapid-transit vehicle includes an apron which is maintained centered in the space between turntables at the adjoining ends, by being mounted on two transverse parallel shafts via telescopable units that are pivoted to these shafts and alternate ones of which, as considered in direction lengthwise of the shafts, exert a biasing action on the apron in mutually opposite directions along the centerline of the two cars.

    Abstract: A system for articulated bogie-type rail vehicles in which the adjacent ends of the car bodies are pivotally and rotatably supported by supporting arms extending beyond their end trusses on a single-part connecting portal jointed by bellows to the car box ends and mounted on a transverse support. The portal is tightly enclosed by a sealing member on its full perimeter and has a spring mounted platform supported with vertical freedom of movement but with minimum play in all other directions on the bogie. This platform is pivotally arranged by at least one centrally located rotation ball race and by the supporting arms. This rotation ball race has three race rings and two rows of balls. Of these three race rings one race ring is kinematically associated with the front car body while another race ring is kinematically associated with the rear car body, and the third race ring is kinematically associated with the transverse support supporting the portal and the platform.

    Abstract: An entrance step arrangement particularly for short distance vehicles, especially rail vehicles, which has at least one intermediate step, a cover for covering up the step or steps, a foldable guard plate, and transmission elements interposed between a drive and movable element, and safety devices for preventing faulty actuation of the cover, guard plate, and transmission elements. The axes of rotation of the movable elements are arranged horizontal and parallel to the outer contour of the vehicle. The guard plate which is foldable outwardly carries a step, and the step cover is pivotable inwardly behind the tread edge of the floor of the vehicle.
