Abstract: A device for drawing glass ribbons is provided. The device includes a drawing tank and a nozzle in the drawing tank. The drawing tank holds a glass melt. The nozzle has a nozzle slot through which the glass melt emerges downward. The nozzle slot has two ends, a length, and a width, the length being greater than the width. The nozzle slot is curved downward toward the two ends in a drawing direction so that the two ends are lower than a center of the nozzle slot. The width changes from the center towards the two ends.

Abstract: The invention relates to balneological preparations, especially bath and shower preparations, which, as a pourable or liquid premixture concentrate, contain liposome-forming components, such as phospholipids, in addition to natural and/or synthetic lipids, and are also provided as mixtures containing primarily vegetable proteins, surfactants, and optional additives. When entering in contact with an excess of water, the stable systems directly form skin-active proteoliposomes having a catalytic activity for enhancing transfer of active ingredients into the skin. The stable systems can be used directly or in diluted or solid forms of application (such as lipid-containing proteasome shower preparation, proteasome bath powder, and the like).

Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions having bioactive transfer proteins in stable carrier systems. Such systems are above all suitable for influencing/changing lipid cell structures by means of improved lipid exchange, while at the same time having great stability. In this connection, not only transfer proteins and lipid components, but also protective colloids are used, by means of which an impairment of the transfer effect of the proteins and a loss of stability can be avoided. The compositions are suitable for external topical use for cleansing, care, dermatological and/or therapeutic treatment of the skin, hair, or mucous membranes.

Abstract: The present invention relates to novel proteins, in particular membrane proteins or proteins which are firmly associated with the membrane, which are derived from Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and which contain the peptide sequence SEQ ID NO:37 according to Tables 1a-1c, or to parts or homologues thereof having a minimum length of ten amino acids, and to their preparation and use as pharmaceutical compositions, in particular as vaccines, or as a diagnostic agent. Based on these data, the gene coding for this protein was also isolated as shown in SEQ ID NO: 36.

Abstract: A method for the qualitative and quantitative determination of multimers of fibrinogen and of von Willebrand factor by gel electrophoresis, in which a sample containing von Willebrand factor (vWF) or fibrinogen is fractionated by submarine electrophoresis using a continuous, homogeneous agarose gel free of lumps, and the multimer bands are visualized immunochemically after a western blot analysis by a specific antibody-enzyme conjugate on the blotting membrane or by a suitable dye, preferably with a blue stain, in the gel, is described.

Abstract: A forming plate for a bakery machine is provided having a working surface area on an upper side with an array of forming bowls provided concentrically in circles thereon. The bowls each have a system of concentric annular edges beginning at an outside and extending to a center. From each annular edge there extends, in the direction towards the center, an annular flank oriented perpendicular to the underside of the forming plate. This flank is divided into two sequential annular ramp sections via an intermediate transition zone. The annular ramp section which extends from the annular edge viewed in the direction away from the center has an angle of inclination (&agr;1) which is greater than the angle of inclination (&agr;2) of the immediately following annular ramp section. This achieves an acute-angled, knife-like shaping of the ramp sections which follow on from the annular edge, as well as from a considerable height of the annular edge above the flank base.

Abstract: Active ingredient system for the lipid exchange with target structures; methods for their manufacture and their use; and products containing active ingredient systems of this type are disclosed. The active ingredient system for the transfer of lipophilic and/or amphiphilic components to target structures or from such back to the active ingredient system, as well as to their exchange with the target structures, is formed from at least one lipid component with at least one transfer protein. In the method for the manufacture of the active ingredient system, lipid and protein components are combined into systems in different configurations depending on the purpose of its use and its place of use, whereby the specificity results from the lipid used and the transfer protein employed, as well as the direction of the lipid transfer. Active ingredient systems of this type are used in technology, such as the material technology, in medicine, pharmaceuticals and in the area of cosmetology.

Abstract: In an amplifier, which amplifies high-frequency communication signals, there develops odd-order intermodulation products which, because of the identical frequency spacing of the channels, fall into directly adjacent useful channels. In order to keep these intermodulation products below an admissible level, the input of the main amplifier is preceded by an attenuator of adjustable attenuation. The output of the main amplifier is connected to the input of an auxiliary amplifier which has a broader pass band than the main amplifier and amplifies also second-order intermodulation products. The auxiliary amplifier is followed by a low-pass filter which allows those intermodulation products to pass but shuts off other frequency ranges. The second-order intermodulation products which were allowed to pass are rectified in a detector and are amplified in a control circuit the output of which determines the attenuation of the attenuator.

Abstract: A method of protecting programs and data in computers against unauthorized access and modifications employs a programmable hardware circuit to monitor memory regions of a computer. The memory regions are divided into different access levels, and the circuit is programmed to permit access only to predetermined regions. If an unauthorized access is attempted by a program, an address corresponding to the program location initiating the unauthorized access is detected and the program is stopped. This ensures that the procedures for protecting the operating system cannot be circumvented to gain unauthorized access to data of any type. After programming of the circuit is completed, the programming cannot be changed except by actuation of a hardware switch or by re-starting the computer. Removal of the circuit will cause short circuits, thus making it impossible to shut the circuit off without being detected.

Abstract: The invention relates to a closure cap (5) having a dispensing opening (6) for containers with flexible walls, which can be pressed together by hand for the dispensing of spray product which is in connection with the dispensing opening (6) by means of a dip tube (7). Upstream of the dispensing opening (6) is an outlet valve (8), which is open when there is positive pressure in the container, whereas an air-admitting opening (9) is assigned an air-admitting valve (10), which is open when there is negative pressure in the container. By virtue of the outlet valve (8) upstream of the dispensing opening (6), the readmission of air to the container and consequently the risk of sucking in through the dispensing opening (6) substances contaminating the container content is prevented.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the isolation of vinyl acetate which involves not combining the bottom product of the recylced gas washings with the water-saturated vinyl acetate but rather introducing it to further multiple distillation columns from the gas mixture formed in the reaction of ethylene with acetic acid and oxygen over catalysts containing palladium or palladium compounds in the gas phase.

Abstract: A method for real video time size selection for objects represented as video images which are to be filtered out so as to be classified as to their shape, including the steps of: recording the video image with a scanning recording beam; digitalizing the video image; providing at least one selected mask representing a selected object image shape; examining the digitalized image, pixel by pixel, with the selected mask while displacing the selected mask over the video image in synchronism with the recording beam; and, upon the occurrence of a given degree of coincidence between a selected section of the image and the selected mask, indicating detection of the object as such.
