  • Patent number: 6389788
Abstract: A method for operating a pot spinning machine which has a plurality of identical work stations each having a drafting device with a slubbing stop device, a spinning centrifuge rotating at high speed around an axis, and a tubular reciprocable guide. A slubbing emerging from the yarn guide mouth forms a rotating yarn leg which is deposited on the inner wall of the spinning centrifuge in the form of a spinning cake. At the start of a spinning cycle of the spinning machine, the individual spinning centrifuges of the spinning machine are checked for the presence of yarn cake remnants.

  • Patent number: 6244029
Abstract: A method and a device for winding a spun yarn body from an inside wall of a spinning centrifuge of a pot spinning machine onto a tube (10) introduced for such purpose into the spinning centrifuge. The yarn extending between a yarn guide tube (6) and the inside wall of the spinning centrifuge is caught by lowering the tube past the mouth of the yarn guide tube and the winding process initiated. A remnant of spinning yarn is created thereby between the draw frame and the tube foot. In order to avoid disturbances due to the free end of this remnant of spinning yarn, the remnant of spinning yarn is separated from the yarn body and the tube and subsequently removed by suction.

  • Patent number: 6109014
Abstract: A method and a device for initiating the rewinding process after a yarn break in single stage pot spinning. In the process, a yarn detaching device (14) is introduced into a spinning centrifuge (3) rotating a high rpm, and places a cutting edge (16, 48) against the conically wound portion (32) of a spinning cake (15) deposited on the inner wall (26) of the spinning centrifuge (3). The yarn detaching device (14) has a yarn guide device, whose yarn guide contour (17, 43) covers the cutting edge (16, 48) of the yarn detaching device (14) such that in the course of the initiation of the rewinding process lower winding layers of the conically wound portion (32) are lifted on the rewinding tube (9) and in this way dependably prevents the winding of yarn around the yarn detaching device (14) during the rewinding process.

  • Patent number: 5916117
Abstract: A pot spinning machine for forming a spinning cop includes a spinning pot onto an interior of which yarn is deposited to form a spinning cake; a yarn guide which deposits the yarn onto the spinning pot to form the spinning cake; a yarn carrier onto which the yarn is rewound from the spinning cake to form the spinning cop; and a lifting member that engages, moves, and positions the yarn carrier with respect to the spinning pot. The yarn guide comprises a yarn passage defined only by the yarn carrier through which the yarn passes in direct exposure to said yarn carrier for deposit in the spinning pot. A method for forming a spinning cop includes depositing yarn onto an interior of a spinning pot of the pot spinning machine to form a spinning cake; and rewinding the spinning cake onto a yarn carrier to form a spinning cop.

  • Patent number: 5813208
Abstract: A device for holding and releasing bobbin tubes in a pot spinning frame. A bobbin tube holding body has a longitudinal axis, an interior passage along the axis, and a lower end, with the lower end having an outer surface and being adapted to fit within a bobbin tube. A yarn guide for pot spinning is moveably mounted in the passage of the bobbin tube holding body for movement with respect to the bobbin tube holding body along a predetermined path aligned with the axis. A plurality of gripping elements are disposed at the lower end of the bobbin tube holding body concentrically with respect to the axis, and each of the gripping elements are moveable between an extended position extending radially outward of the outer surface of the lower end of the bobbin tube holding body for gripping engagement of the bobbin tube, and a retracted position radially inward of the outer surface out of gripping engagement with the bobbin tube.

  • Patent number: 5704203
Abstract: A pot-spinning machine is equipped with a rewinding tube mounted on each yarn guide and with a central, common shogging drive of the yarn guides at one side of the machine. After a yarn break or similar interruption in spinning, in order to be able to initiate the rewinding operation immediately at the affected spinning station while simultaneously continuing the spinning process unchanged at the neighboring spinning stations, the shogging motion of the yarn guide is separated from the motion of the rewinding tube supported on the yarn guide, so that the rewinding tube is then moved only at the forward indexing speed of the yarn guide which is relatively slow compared with the shogging speed and which does not affect the rewinding of yarn onto the rewinding tube.

  • Patent number: 5699658
Abstract: A pot spinning machine holds a yarn rewinding tube in ready position during the spinning operation for immediate movement to an operative rewinding position in the event of a yarn break so that the broken end of yarn is not lost by winding onto the yarn cake already formed in the spinning pot and the yarn cake may then be properly rewound. The yarn break is detected with the aid of a yarn sensor which then emits a signal for immediately moving the rewinding tube into the rewinding position and clamping the yarn end. The rewinding operation can begin, even in the absence of a loose end of the yarn, if the yarn has assumed the form of a chord-like yarn segment extending substantially in the circumferential direction against the inner face of the yarn cake deposited onto the inside wall of the pot, which can be grasped and utilized to initiate the rewinding operation.

  • Patent number: 5613355
Abstract: A method for rewinding a spinning cake from a spinning pot of a pot spinning apparatus onto a rewinding body, preferably onto a tube as a yarn carrier, includes drawing a sliver to be spun in a drafting configuration, guiding the sliver in a pneumatic piecing aid, and depositing the sliver with a traversing yarn guide onto an inner wall surface of the rotating spinning pot as the spinning cake, while maintaining a requisite rotation for formation of a yarn. A yarn guide is moved toward the middle of the spinning cake in a last stroke being shorter than a next-to-last stroke of the yarn guide toward the middle of the spinning cake, once a predetermined size of the spinning cake is reached, before initiating rewinding of the spinning cake onto the rewinding body. A delivery of the sliver from the drafting configuration is stopped once a reversing point of the stroke is reached. The rewinding body is introduced into the spinning pot and the yarn is transferred onto the rewinding body.

  • Patent number: 5515672
Abstract: Because of the pot spinning process, it is more difficult to automate the supply of empty tubes, respooling of the spinning cake on an empty tube, and the removal of the spinning cops in a pot spinning machine than with other spinning processors. The present invention provides a completely automatic exchange of spinning cops for empty tubes at the spinning stations of a pot spinning machine by utilizing the yarn guides of pot spinning stations to place full yarn cops produced thereat into an upright position on carriers located on a movable conveyor extending underneath the spinning pots. With the spinning cops deposited onto the conveyor and with the yarn guide returned to a spinning position, the conveyor can transport the carriers with the spinning cops away and can deliver empty tubes to the spinning stations for receipt by the yarn guides to continue the spinning process.
