  • Publication number: 20240165409
Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to auditory nerve stimulation to create the perception of sound in the brain of a subject such as an animal or human being. In one form, a system includes an implantable electrode array including a plurality of spaced apart micro-needles. The system also includes a first electrical lead electrically coupled to and extending from the implantable electrode array, and an auditory signal device configured to produce one or more electrical signals representative of communications received from an external processor. An interposer is configured to electrically couple the implantable electrode array and the auditory signal device in an arrangement where one or more electrical signals produced by the auditory signal device may be transmitted through the first electrical lead to the implantable electrode array. Various novel stimulation strategies can be employed, such as place modulated stimulation signals.

  • Patent number: 8607550
Abstract: A system is provided for admixing a reducing agent to an exhaust gas flow of an internal-combustion engine. The system includes an exhaust line and a metering device for feeding the reducing agent into the exhaust line, the metering device is arranged in or on a hollow body arranged on the exhaust line. An inner volume of the hollow body is connected in an exhaust-gas-conducting manner with the exhaust line. The reducing agent is feedable by a nozzle into the hollow body. A jacket body is provided between the hollow body and the nozzle-fed reducing agent, which jacket body surrounds the reducing agent at least in areas in the inner volume. Accordingly, a depositing of reducing agent on the metering device and on the hollow body is substantially avoided.

  • Publication number: 20070261683
Abstract: A vehicle with an engine, especially a diesel engine, is provided and includes: an intake tract, via which air is supplied to the engine, an exhaust gas tract, via which exhaust gas emitted by the diesel engine is discharged towards an exhaust gas tailpipe and through the exhaust gas tailpipe to the environment, a branch-off valve, disposed in the exhaust gas tract and having an inlet, a first outlet, connected to the exhaust gas tailpipe, and a second outlet, connected to the intake tract. The branch-off valve has a first and second flap that are kinematically interconnected. The first flap is provided for at least partially closing the first outlet and the second flap is provided for at least partially closing the second outlet.

  • Publication number: 20070220886
Abstract: Vehicle having a Diesel engine comprising an intake section by means of which fresh air is taken in by a compress of an exhaust gas turbocharger, is compressed and is supplied to the Diesel engine by way of a charge air cooler, and an exhaust system in which exhaust gas flowing out of the Diesel engine drives a turbine of the exhaust gas turbocharger rotationally coupled with the compressor, and the exhaust gas flows through a carbon particle filter behind the turbine. The exhaust system has a branch-off valve which, in the flow direction of the exhaust gas, is arranged behind the carbon particle filter and is in a fluid connection with the intake section. A partial volume flow of the exhaust gas can be fed to the intake section by way of the branch-off valve.

  • Patent number: 6431759
Abstract: A split bearing arrangement in a machine housing, particularly a crankshaft journal bearing for piston machines. The split bearing arrangement including a bearing block and a bearing cover that are made of materials of different hardnesses. In order to provide a material anchoring between the bearing cover and the bearing block that can be subjected to high loads and is cost-effective to produce, the bearing arrangement provides the bearing cover, which is made of an iron material, with cutting-edge like projections protruding above its clamping faces and, furthermore, provides grooves in the corresponding clamping faces of the bearing cover and the bearing block. These grooves in an initial mounting of the bearing cover with the required force serve to receive the material of the bearing block that is displaced in the pressing-in process when the projections are pressed into the opposite clamping faces of the bearing block, which is made of a light metal.

  • Patent number: 4024940
Abstract: A matrix printer with a reciprocating carriage carries transversely moving spring biased printing head. A roller on the head runs on a resilient rail urged against the platen and can be retracted by pivoting the rail carrier under engagement of a second rail cooperating with a second roller on the head. A cam track in a terminal position of the carriage provides for independent head retraction through engagement with the second roller.
