  • Patent number: 5605266
Abstract: A device for aligning material webs which in a longitudinal direction have alternating regions of differing thickness, has a top and a bottom aligning rail, which are disposed substantially at right angles to the material web and opposite one another with slight clearance. The top aligning rail has a row of aligning elements which are disposed in a longitudinal direction of the aligning rail. They are supported so as to be movable substantially at right angles to the plane of the material web and may be brought to rest on the bottom aligning rail with the material web for alignment lying in between. The aligning elements are supported in a substantially freely movable manner in the top aligning rail such that they may be brought under the action of gravity to rest on the material web. The aligning elements after being brought to rest on the material web are releasably fixable in the top aligning rail.

  • Patent number: 5540167
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a sealable cloth pouch having an opening on one side and consisting of two cloth parts to be sewn together uses several piping segments corresponding in number and length essentially to the edges of the cloth pouch which is to be stitched. The seams of the cloth pouch runs substantially linearly along the edges of the pouch into the corners thereof but not around the corners. The piping segments overlap each other in the corner areas to create substantially rounded edges. The apparatus for manufacturing the cloth pouch includes a device to feed the cloth parts together, a device to insert the various piping segments, a device to stitch the piping segments and a device to create an incision to facilitate overlapping the piping segments.

  • Patent number: 5033341
Abstract: An alignment and cutting system for use with textile materials, such as terry cloth toweling fabric, to process either a single width of fabric or to simultaneously process in a side-by-side manner, a plurality of fabrics having the same or different widths. The system will also align each of that plurality of fabric regardless of whether the fabrics have the same or different lengths of nap-less bands or lanes separating the terry pile areas and can cut the same or different lengths of fabric from each of the plurality of fabrics being processed.

  • Patent number: 4829920
Abstract: Apparatus and method of positioning and holding a thread chain for sewing onto successively fed workpieces, a thread chain which had been sewn beyond the rear edge of a workpiece and had been cut off flush with the rear edge of the workpiece, is sucked into the suction aperture of a suction tube. The suction tube is movable in a path parallel to the stitch plate of the sewing machine first in a catch position behind the needle and then the tube is moved into a delivery position before the needle aligned with a seam line (N). The chain is clamped there under a tensile stress in such a way that complete inclusion of the thread chain into the next following seam is possible. The suction tube extends parallel to the stitch plate and has a suction aperture into which the severed thread chain is sucked. The tube is moved to a delivery position in which the thread chain is pressed against an elastic abutment.

  • Patent number: 4748922
Abstract: In order to mechanically prefabricate fitted elastic bedsheets of such dimensions that the manual work steps still required for completion of the fitted elastic bedsheets can be carried out efficiently in a short time, a device is provided which includes a first conveyor device for a strip of cloth, from which the individual fitted elastic bedsheets are cut. The first conveyor device intermittently draws lengths of the strip corresponding to the cut lengths of the fitted elastic bedsheets from a supply. A cutting device is provided at the end of the first conveyor device. At a right angle to first conveyor device is arranged a second device for the pieces of cloth which are cut by cutting device from strip of cloth.

  • Patent number: 4682555
Abstract: In order to be able to execute the commercial production of fitted elastic bedsheets from a strip of cloth, markings are applied to the strip of cloth, which determine the attachment points for stretched elastic bands, the transverse cutting lines on the strip of cloth and the seams at the corners of each piece of cloth to be cut from the strip of cloth. The stretched elastic bands are sewn on or in the edges of the strip of cloth, while the strip of cloth is being moved in the lengthwise direction and is held in a flat state. Then individual pieces of cloth are cut from the strip of cloth. The stretched elastic bands then are sewn on or in the two edges of the pieces of cloth being moved transverse to the length of the strip of cloth, which corresponds to the cut edges. With this sewing process, the pieces of cloth are likewise held in a flat state.

  • Patent number: 4615287
Abstract: A device for the finishing of at least one lengthwise edge of a sheet of material, which at least on the one lengthwise edge has a lengthwise strip which is thinner than the remainder of the sheet of material, in that the finished lengthwise edge runs parallel to the lengthwise edge of the sheet to the side bordering the different material thicknesses, and at least two scanning devices are provided, responsive to the variations of thickness of the sheet. One scanning device is arranged to scan the lengthwise strips of the sheet which are thinner and the other scanning device is arranged to scan the sheet in its area of greater thickness. The two scanning devices are positioned transverse to the direction of movement of the sheet and are spaced so that they normally scan the sheet close to the lengthwise edge thereof, on the side bordering the different material thicknesses.
