  • Publication number: 20060118285
Abstract: The invention relates to a heat exchanger, especially a charge-air cooler for motor vehicles, comprising flat tubes (9) with tube ends (9a), and collecting tanks (1) which are connected to tube plates (4), said tube plates (4) comprising openings (8) provided with long sides (8a) and short sides (8b) for receiving the tube ends (9a), in addition to edge strips (5, 6) and transition regions (12, 13) which are embodied in a groove-type manner and located between the short sides (8b) and the edge strips (5, 6), the tube ends (9a) being soldered in the openings (8). According to the invention, the transition regions (12, 13) comprise a reinforcing element.

  • Publication number: 20060011333
Abstract: A plate heat exchanger comprising a plurality of plates (12,13) which are stacked against each other and which are of a first and second type in order to form flow channels for a first and second medium. The plates form a heat exchanger block (2) with an upper side and a lower side and with two opposite side surfaces (10) and front faces (9). The first flow channels are peripherally sealed for the first medium and are fluidically connected to distributor and collector channels which are arranged in a vertical position with respect to the plate plane and which lead into inlet and outlet connection pieces (6,7) which are respectively arranged on the upper side and/or lower side (3,11). The second flow channels are open at the front surfaces (9) thereof and are sealed at the side surfaces (10) thereof. The open sides (9) form an inlet and outlet plane for the second medium.

  • Publication number: 20050230092
Abstract: The invention relates to a heat exchanger, particularly a charge-air cooler for motor vehicles, preferably for commercial vehicles, comprising a first collecting vessel and a second collecting vessel for a first medium. Both collecting vessels have a first media connection for the first medium and are connected to one another in a communicating manner via at least one heat exchanger element. The inventive heat exchanger also comprises a housing, which accommodates the heat exchanger element, guides a second medium in the interior, and which has second media connections for the second medium. According to the invention, the housing (8) is designed in such a manner that it accommodates, in the interior thereof, at least one collecting vessel (2, 3), preferrably both collecting vessels (2, 3), so that it/they are located, at least in part, at a distance from the housing inner wall at least in areas.

  • Publication number: 20050121176
Abstract: The invention relates to a cooler having means for directing a cooling medium, means for directing a medium to be cooled, and an essentially axially symmetrical housing. The means for directing the medium to be cooled is arranged in such a way that the medium to be cooled, in at least one first region, flows in an essentially axial direction, and the medium to be cooled, in at least one second region, flows in a direction having a radial component. The invention also relates to a method of cooling a medium and to various uses of a cooler according to the invention.
