  • Patent number: 7787908
Abstract: Techniques to manage the display of information for multiple voice and/or data calls in wireless devices. The techniques can manage a summary of all calls that are in progress and detailed information for individual calls. In one method, summary information is initially provided (e.g., to a display) for the multiple calls. The summary information may include, for example, the type and status of each call. An indication is then received to view detailed information for a selected call. In response, the detailed information for the selected call is provided. The detailed information for the selected call may include, for example, the caller name, call number, call duration, and so on. The detailed information for a data call may indicate various attributes for the data call (e.g., data rate, connection status, activity, service type, billing information, and so on).

  • Patent number: 6449475
Abstract: A system (36, 38) for accurately matching a phone call to a corresponding entry in an electronic phonebook (40) adapted for use with a telephone (10). The system (36, 38) includes a first mechanism (38) for identifying the phone call and providing a phone number in response thereto. A second mechanism (38) determines a home area code associated with the phone. A third mechanism (38) employs the home area code and the phone number to accurately match the phone call to a corresponding entry in the electronic phonebook (40) whether or not entries in the electronic phonebook (40) contain area codes. In a specific embodiment, the first mechanism (38) includes a mechanism (38) for identifying the phone call as an incoming or outgoing call. A caller identification system (38) identifies incoming calls and provides the phone number in response thereto. Another mechanism (38) stores an outgoing number dialed by the user and provides the outgoing number as the phone number in response thereto.

  • Patent number: 6449496
Abstract: A method and apparatus providing a user interface within a phone that responds to a limited vocabulary of user trained voice commands. The interface allows users to perform all phone handset dialing functions using voice commands. Additionally, users will be able to create and modify entries within a voice recognition phonebook, whereby a number within the voice recognition phonebook can be called by saying the name associated with the number. The user interface provides a combination of voice and LCD displayed user prompts and responses to voice input. The interface responds to user voice commands and performs the command functions based upon matches to previously user trained voice command vocabulary words stored in memory.

  • Patent number: 6330247
Abstract: A method and apparatus for communicating both voice and control data between a communication device (such as a cellular phone) and an external accessory (such as a hands-free kit) over a data bus. The method includes formatting a sequence of bits into a repeating sequence of first time slots and second time slots, transmitting the voice data in the first time slot, and transmitting the control data in the second time slot. Notably, a first bit of each of the second time slots comprises a clock bit that alternates between a high value and a low value (e.g. a ‘1’ or a ‘0’) as between consecutive second time slots.
