If the output data is does not exist at the potential pathname, the comment is compared to search paths within the network to identify the potential pathname of the output data within the publication data. The potential pathname is substituted for the comment in the publication data. The publication data is prescanned. Optionally, the output data is gathered at a local disk. The publication data is output to an output medium via an output device.

Data for the customized tone curves is entered through a customizing interface according to the discretion of the user. The customized reproduction tone curve is then combined with the original color data to generate customized color image data. The customized color data is then calibrated by combination with the current calibration tone reproduction curve.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method and apparatus for supporting line-conditioned data stream (LCDS) data in a job-oriented environment. More particularly, the invention is directed to a job-oriented system that also has the ability to process LCDS data. In addition, the LCDS data is processed in a manner that will exploit advanced job management functions of the system.

Abstract: A billing module for a document processing system is configured by the document processing system. The billing module accepts a billing strategy from the document processing system. The billing strategy lists parameters or events the billing module is to monitor. Additionally the billing strategy provides algorithms. The algorithms define the function of billing meters. The billing module instantiates meters according to the strategy and updates the meters based on the monitored parameters as described by the billing strategy. The billing module is used by a wide variety of devices. Device developers need only define the billing strategy, in for example a billing strategy script. The need to “hard code” custom billing software for each new device is eliminated. Instead the billing module is reused and simply reconfigured via the billing strategy script.

Abstract: There is provided an accounting system for a document processing system which executes one or more jobs with multiple document processing facilities. One of the jobs is identified by a unique identifier and has its origin in a document in a hardcopy or electronic form. A first portion of the one job is processed with a first one of the multiple document processing facilities, in accordance with a first set of control instructions, to result in a first accountable event characterized by a first set of one or more attribute values, and a second portion of the one job is processed with a second one of the multiple document processing facilities, in accordance with a second set of control instructions to result in a second accountable event characterized by a second set of one or more attribute values.
