    Abstract: A seed mat for placement in a growing medium, such as soil. The seed mat includes a biodegradable mat having at least one opening positioned within an indentation, and a seed that is placed near the opening. The opening is sized smaller than the seed, and the seed is secured below the opening between a bottom biodegradable sheet that is adhered to the bottom surface of the mat. An adhesive is used to adhere the bottom sheet to the mat. The adhesive can optionally include a water-soluble fertilizer.
