  • Publication number: 20040215467
Abstract: A system for handling electronic documents, such as requests for quotations used in procurement under an electronic auction, includes several features. Once the need to procure a new item (or service) is identified, an electronic request for quotations (“RFQ”) is generated. Under one embodiment, one or more electronic forms, such as Web page screens, prompt an RFQ author for data entry. Previously prepared RFQs may be readily retrieved and amended. The system requires certain fields to be completed so that RFQ generation is uniform across an organization and RFQs are unambiguous for suppliers. The electronic RFQ is provided to suppliers well before an auction.

  • Publication number: 20040073507
Abstract: A system for providing procurement, such as international procurement via an electronic reverse auction system, provides several components. Once the need to procure a new item (or service) is identified, a global commodity leader is notified to help identify leveraging across a large business organization. Substantially in parallel, suppliers for participating in a reverse auction are identified, a qualification plan for qualifying suppliers and items to be procured is established, and an electronic request for quotations (“RFQ”) is generated. Following completion of these tasks, the electronic RFQ is provided to identified suppliers under an auction and results received within a time limit established for the auction. The winning supplier is identified and feedback is provided to the winning supplier, as well as to other suppliers, to provide, for example, a smooth, beneficial and amicable transition between an existing supplier and a new supplier, if necessary.

  • Publication number: 20020099638
Abstract: Disclosed is a system for listing, approving and contacting suppliers or other individuals/organizations. In one embodiment, a user schedules an electronic auction and then selects suppliers from a list of suppliers to participate in the auction. New suppliers may be added. The system provides a series of Web page forms or other user input devices for receiving supplier selection and new supplier data. Other authorized users may either make suggestions and/or approve suppliers. The system provides automatic notification between such users and provides directly, or gives access to, electronic documents providing relevant information, such as information regarding the auction. Once all suppliers have been accepted, the system automatically distributes relevant information to accepted suppliers.
