  • Patent number: 5322445
Abstract: Branch connection busbars to be firmly installed in upper and lower cases each have upper and lower series of branched tabs projecting upwardly and downwardly from the upper and lower lateral edges of the busbar, respectively, through tab connecting portions, with the upper and lower series of branched tabs staggered. The upper and lower cases are each provided at their opposing contact surfaces with seats. The branch connection busbars are first installed into the lower case with the upwardly projecting branched tabs held firmly by the seats of the lower case. At the same time the downwardly projecting branched tabs are passed through tab insertion holes in the lower case. As the upper case is assembled onto the lower case, the upwardly projecting branched tabs are inserted into the tab insertion holes in the upper case and the seats of the upper case are held against the bottom of the downwardly projecting branched tabs.

  • Patent number: 5207591
Abstract: A branch junction box having an upper case and a lower case, with a plurality of connector insertion portions provided on the upper case. A plurality of parallel busbar accommodating grooves are formed in the lower case. A plurality of busbars are installed in the busbar accommodating grooves and have branched tabs which project upwardly via tab connecting portions into the connector insertion portions. The tab connecting portions include a rising piece extending upwardly from one edge of the busbar and a tab connecting piece extending laterally on one or both sides of the rising piece. The tab connecting pieces are bent at right angles to the plane of the busbar so that the branched tabs on the connecting pieces protrude sideways from the busbar. The tab connecting pieces are formed with the upwardly projecting branched tabs.

  • Patent number: 5066252
Abstract: In an electric connector, a terminal retainer prevents accidental locking of the terminal retainer in a connector housing by requiring two locking steps. The connector housing includes a lid member with a recess which mates with a step of a window which also is provided in the connector housing. The recess mates with the step at two different positions, the first of which is a provisional locking position. At the second position, a locking arm grips the lid member, while the recess mates with the step at the second position. This is a complete locking position.

  • Patent number: 5051100
Abstract: An electrical connector has a protective cover which moves slidably between a first position, which exposes a plurality of metal terminals to corresponding portions of a printed circuit board, and a second position, which covers the terminals. Unless the connector is inserted properly, the protective cover will cover the terminals, preventing contact with the printed circuit board. A detecting piece on a mating connector housing the printed circuit contacts moves the protective cover when the connector is inserted into the mating connector.

  • Patent number: 5048161
Abstract: A connector having an improved mechanism for its lock onto a panel. A housing of the connector has a wall on which a sliding rail capable of slidingly fitting onto guide rails of the panel is provided. A flexible engagement member having an engagement projection engageable with an engagement projection of the panel is formed in a portion of the wall by cutting a part of the wall. When the sliding rail is slid on the guide rail to fit thereon, the flexible engagement member is deformed and has its position changed toward the inside of the housing while its engagement projection abuts on the engagement projection of the panel until the member recovers its original position upon the engagement between the projections. The arrangement of the flexible engagement member is advantageous in that it does not require any deformation distance to be provided on the outside of the housing, thereby enabling the entire connector to be compact.

  • Patent number: 5033980
Abstract: A connector housing has a pair of opposing inner walls in which is formed a plurality of terminal accommodating cavities. One of the inner walls is formed with a first terminal locking portion and the other inner wall is formed with an opening or window communicating with the cavity inside the walls. A terminal locking member is attached to the inner walls, and its terminal locking plate is installed in the window so that it can be moved sideways across the cavities in two steps, i.e., to the preliminary locked position and to the full locked position. The terminal locking plate has a second terminal locking portion or projections spaced at certain intervals. When the terminal locking member is in the preliminary locked position, the terminal can be inserted into or removed from the cavity, with an engagement piece of the terminal passing through the gap between the projections of the terminal locking plate.

  • Patent number: 4959023
Abstract: An electrical connector includes an electrically-insulative housing having front and rear open ends and at least one terminal-receiving chamber. The housing has a slot therein adjacent to the front open end thereof. At least one contact terminal is inserted into the chamber from the rear open end of the housing. A spacer is inserted into the slot in such a manner that the spacer can be slidingly moved to a final locked position in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the contact terminal. The spacer has a terminal-retaining portion which engages the contact terminal in the locked position of the spacer to thereby prevent the contact terminal from being withdrawn from the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4950183
Abstract: An electrical connector of the present invention comprises a substantially rectangular, sleeve-shaped electrically contacting portion in which a male terminal is to be inserted, and an electric wire connecting portion of a substantially U-shape in section which is formed integrally with the electrically contacting portion for fixedly securing an electric wire thereto. The arrangement is made such that a resilient contact piece formed by extending one wall of said electrically contacting portion is located in the electrically contacting portion, and a projection is formed by projecting part of the other wall opposite to the resilient contact piece towards the latter to thereby enable a male terminal to be gripped resiliently and held between the projection and said resilient contact piece.
