Publication number: 20110318697Abstract: Provided is a ground flare in which a low-frequency vibration generated from a ground flare tower, such as a chimney, is properly adjusted to suppress it below a fixture-vibration generation limit, thereby preventing surrounding objects from resonating and vibrating. In a ground flare that burns a flammable exhaust gas with a burner at the lower end of a chimney, in which the lower end of the chimney and the periphery of the burner are surrounded by a windbreak, the low-frequency-noise sound pressure level of a ground flare tower composed of the chimney and the windbreak is reduced by selecting at least one of changing a natural frequency generated from the ground flare tower, using multiple ground flare towers, and installing a low-frequency-vibration absorber in the ground flare tower.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2009Publication date: December 29, 2011Applicants: MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES, LTD., HOKKAIDO ELECTRIC POWER COMPANY, INCORPORATED, TOHOKU ELECTRIC POWER CO., INC., THE TOKYO ELECTRIC POWER COMPANY, INCOPORATED, CHUBU ELECTRIC POWER CO., INC., CLEAN COAL POWER R&D CO., LTD., THE KANSAI ELECTRIC POWER CO., INC., THE CHUGOKU ELECTRIC POWER CO., INC., SHIKOKU ELECTRIC POWER CO., INC., KYUSHU ELECTRIC POWER CO., INC., ELECTRIC POWER DEVELOPMENT CO., LTD., HOKURIKU ELECTRIC POWER COMPANYInventors: Katsuhiko Yokohama, Iwao Honda, Naoki Suganuma, Hirofumi Ando, Naoshige Yoshida, Yoshihiko Horie, Hitoshi Terada, Toru Kawai, Atsushi Kimura

Publication number: 20110265696Abstract: It is possible to prevent a phenomenon by which the wall temperature of an outer cylinder rises abruptly as a layer of steam covers the inner circumferential surface of the outer cylinder and therefore decreases the heat transfer coefficient thereof, thus preventing a heat damage to the outer cylinder. Also prevented is burnout of the burner resulting from insufficient cooling due to variations in cooling efficiency at a leading end of the burner. A leading end located in a two-stage entrained-flow bed coal gasifier has a double-walled structure including an outer cylinder and an inner cylinder, and cooling water for cooling the leading end is supplied through an interior of the inner cylinder to cool the leading end and is then returned to a base end through a space formed between the outer cylinder and the inner cylinder.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 5, 2009Publication date: November 3, 2011Inventors: Shinya Hamasaki, Toshimi Ohtsuka, Yoshinori Koyama, Katsuhiko Yokohama, Yasunari Shibata, Jun Kasai

Patent number: 7803216Abstract: A compact pressurized high-temperature gas cooler having superior heat exchange performance and excellent economical efficiency is provided. A return-flow structure is formed in which a flue through which high-temperature gas flows is formed in a pressure container, a heat exchanger is disposed in the flue, and a partition dividing the internal cross-sectional area of the flue is provided so that the high-temperature gas supplied from a bottom or a top portion of the pressure container flows back in a return direction. The cross-sectional-area division ratio dividing the internal cross-section of the flue is set so that the flow rate of the high-temperature gas flowing in one direction matches that flowing in the direction opposite thereto.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2006Date of Patent: September 28, 2010Assignee: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Yoshinori Koyama, Katsuhiko Yokohama, Osamu Shinada, Hiromi Ishii, Yuichiro Kitagawa, Kosei Manabe

Publication number: 20100180503Abstract: In a coal gasification furnace adapted to feed pulverized coal thereinto by the use of inert carrier gas and gasify the same, any startup burner can be unnecessitated thereby eliminating any startup combustion chamber. Further, even in the use of a startup burner, it is smaller and lighter in weight than conventional startup burners, allowing the startup combustion chamber to be compact and limiting the height of the entirety of the gasification furnace. As a characteristic feature, a pulverized coal fuel supply passageway (23) to a combustor burner (9) is provided at its midstream portion with a startup gas supply passageway (29) for supply of a startup combustible gas (NG1).Type: ApplicationFiled: July 15, 2008Publication date: July 22, 2010Applicant: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries LtdInventors: Katsuhiko Yokohama, Hiromi Ishii, Yuichiro Kitagawa
