  • Patent number: 10600199
Abstract: A device and method for extending an object identification range in a vehicle environment are disclosed. In this regard, the embodiments may operate to solve to a remaining one of a set of pre-defined shape models to an object by successive iterations of point cloud data and associated closing distance to the object. Successive iterations of point cloud data may include receiving, via an object sensor device, the point cloud data, and detecting at least a portion of an object from the point cloud data, which portion is compared with each of a set of pre-defined shape models. The set is updated to include ones comparing favorably with the point cloud data. When the successive iterations solve to a singular remaining one of the set, an iterative match to the object may be based on the singular remaining one of the set of pre-defined shape models to identify the object.

  • Patent number: 10591922
Abstract: Arrangements related to operating an autonomous vehicle in view-obstructed environments are described. At least a portion of an external environment of the autonomous vehicle can be sensed to detect one or more objects located therein. An occupant viewable area of the external environment can be determined. It can be determined whether one or more of the detected one or more objects is located outside of the determined occupant viewable area. Responsive to determining that a detected object is located outside of the determined occupant viewable area, one or more actions can be taken. For instance, the action can include presenting an alert within the autonomous vehicle. Alternatively or in addition, the action can include causing a current driving action of the autonomous vehicle to be modified.

  • Patent number: 10545505
Abstract: A method and device for an autonomous vehicle operation in a heterogeneous vehicle environment are disclosed, where sensing, based on vehicle sensor data, a vehicle travelling ahead, and trajectory request for trajectory information of the vehicle can be transmitted. Based on a response by the vehicle to the trajectory request, determining a certainty estimate value for a trajectory of the vehicle. With the certainty estimate value, selecting a distance buffer proportional to the certainty estimate value for the autonomous vehicle operation in relation to the vehicle, and modifying a trajectory plan of the autonomous vehicle operation to produce a modified trajectory plan based on the distance buffer for modifying the autonomous vehicle operation.

  • Patent number: 10347131
Abstract: A collision determination device determines the possibility of collision between a host vehicle and the other object on the basis of a shortest arrival time calculated by a shortest arrival time calculation unit and a passage time at each point of the host vehicle acquired by a vehicle route candidate acquisition unit. In this way, even if a locus to be taken by the other object is not generated, the shortest arrival time at which the other object can arrive at each point of the route candidate of the host vehicle with a predetermined first displacement is calculated, thereby determining the possibility of collision between the host vehicle and the other object. Therefore, it is possible to reduce a computational load for determining collision and to accurately determine collision between the host vehicle and the other object.
