  • Patent number: 6637652
Abstract: A card slot defines a space for receiving an IC card. A contact block has a plurality of contacts on one surface for contacting a plurality of contact points, respectively which are provided on one surface side of the IC cared received inside the card slot. A supporting mechanism movably supports the contact block in the vertical direction to the one surface of the IC card received inside the card slot, swingingly around a first axis line which passes through the center of the plurality of contacts of the contact block in the inserting direction of the IC card, and swingingly around a second axis line which passes through the center of the plurality of contacts of the contact block in the inserting direction of the IC card. An elastic member abuts against the contact block at one point only and applies a force to press the plurality of contacts of the contact block against one surface side of the IC card.

  • Patent number: 6267295
Abstract: This invention provides an IC card processing apparatus in which a contact error does not occur in contact elements even when a warped card is inserted, and the service life of the contact of the contact elements can be prolonged. When an IC card 1, 1′ is inserted to the deep end, the distal end of a second arm 42 of a pivot lever 40 abuts against the upper surface of a contact element block 50, to regulate the contact element block to swing about a fulcrum on a line almost perpendicularly intersecting one surface of the contact element block 50 and extending through almost the center of a contact element group, or a support axis perpendicularly intersecting this line, as the center. Therefore, the contact pressures between the respective contact elements 51 of the contact element block 50 and the respective contacts of the IC card 1, 1′ become almost equal to each other.

  • Patent number: 6042196
Abstract: In a tractor-trailer combination vehicle, a trailer brake control device has a detector of hitch angle expanded by the longitudinal axis of the trailer relative to the longitudinal axis of the tractor around a vertical pivot axis of a joint between the tractor and the trailer, and a controller for selectively actuating brakes of the trailer, wherein the controller controls the actuation of the trailer brakes based upon at least two operational conditions such that the controller starts the actuation of the trailer brakes when the hitch angle increases beyond a threshold value determined therefor and ends the actuation of the trailer brakes when a duration determined for the actuation of the trailer brakes lapses.

  • Patent number: 5949048
Abstract: A card processing apparatus includes a pivotal member. The pivotal member pivots upon being pressed by the leading end portion of a card inserted through a card insertion port when the leading end portion of the card is inserted to a predetermined insertion depth, the leading end portion of the card is clamped between the pivotal member and an intermediate plate so that the card is locked to be unable to pivot in an opposite direction. A card pressing member is biased to pivot in such a direction that its pressing end portion separates from contact terminals. When the pivotal member pivots in an inserting direction upon insertion of a card, the card pressing member is pressed by the pivotal member to pivot in such a direction that its pressing end portion comes near the contact terminals. In the locked state, the pressing end portion presses the card from the lower surface side to cause external terminals to come into tight contact with the contact terminals.
