  • Patent number: 7877085
Abstract: Reception of a list including information on a content not receivable at a current location is avoided in acquiring a multicast content list. A portable terminal searches a wireless base station which can communicate with the portable terminal at a current location thereof, and transmits available sector identification information for identifying the searched wireless base station to a content information server. Based on the available sector identification information and multicast detailed information on a content distributed by the wireless base station, the content information server transmits a list of contents receivable at the current location of the portable terminal to the portable terminal. The portable terminal selects a content from the content list in accordance with user's manipulation, and makes transition to a channel where the selected content is distributed based on the multicast detailed information.

  • Patent number: 7693518
Abstract: First, the strength A of a first pilot signal currently transmitted by a base station and strength B of a second pilot signal transmitted by a base station other than the foregoing base station are measured, the correction value D of a handoff threshold value according to the multicast service availability and radio configuration information of the multicast content is obtained, and handoff threshold value C is obtained, as well. Next, if the difference between the strength B of the second pilot signal and the strength A of the first pilot signal is greater than the sum of the handoff threshold value C and the correction value D, the idle handoff is started. Through this, idle handoff to neighbor base stations delivering the same multicast content is facilitated and idle handoff to other base stations is made difficult.

  • Publication number: 20060189336
Abstract: In a multimode mobile station capable of communicating with a plurality of cellular systems where a current cellular system which the mobile station has acquired and a cellular system which the mobile station tries to access differ, access-failure information is stored at access failure time. The access-failure information includes any one of, or the combination of information on access failure such as access-system type, access time information, access location information, access failure reason, number of access failures, etc. Since an access cellular system is selected on the basis of the stored access-failure information, even when a current cellular system which the mobile station has acquired and a cellular system which the mobile station tries to access differ, it is possible to shorten re-acquisition time and to reduce power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20060146824
Abstract: When a voice incoming call occurs during multicast content playback, a control section interrupts multicast content playback after storing the multicast service execution status at that time point in a storage section. After a voice call is completed, the control section confirms whether or not the multicast content for which playback has been interrupted can be distributed at that location and, when distribution is possible, confirm whether or not the multicast content has been actually distributed. Then, if in distribution, the control section resumes multicast content playback.
